Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

George Daniel, AJ's new boss

George Daniel's book is perhaps the best selling fly fishing book of all time.

It establishes George Daniel as the best in the subsurface nymph game.

All others are pretenders to the throne.

Meet the new king, Jasper.

George Daniel.

Stop posting as everybody's friend. You are beetle now man up and post as beetle or don't post at all....you boob

I highly doubt its the best selling book of all time. I believe that title still belongs to Richards and Swisher for selective trout.

I cant wait for Borger to put out the volume on nymphing in his new book serious. Who's George Daniels?

I thought the best selling book of all time was the Bible? It has some fishermen in it. Who knew Dynamic Nymphing beat it?

This competetive fly fishing stuff is weird. But if I must vote I'd go for Mike Valla's Wet Fly Book since he mentions me in it (see the Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear page - I got the original for the photo). Maybe someone here will raise the ante by plugging me even more. In the shameless plug category, I should be having an article in April's Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing. This should raise me to the pinnacle of fly fishing authors.

Jeff be careful! don't ask to be" plugged a little more " in a thread started by Beetle. We all know how that ends ;)

GB gets all excited,
gets carried away,
drinks one too many,
gets WAY inappropriate,
offends nearly everyone
and gets put in the thread tank for a while until traffic on the site gets slow.

Beetle's posts were by far the most entertaining non-fishing related thing about this site. All of the rest of you are Gary Borger to his George Daniels.

I say this in part because I just wasted fifteen minutes of my life reading a thread about a horribly taken photograph of a deer with (possibly) abnormal coloration. This was a slight improvement over the brainwashed tea party gibberish and amateur theology that can often be found here, but I can honestly say that listening to a Celine Dion marathon while being gouged in the eyeballs with a pair of hemostats (since this is a fly fishing website and all) would have been more edifying and more fun than reading about the (possibly) light-colored deer that visited Future Fanatic's discount frackatorium up in Unadilla.

Glad you're back Beetle. Now man the hell up and post as Beetle.

Let's set this straight. Beetle wanted to ask me for a guide trip. I said yes, pay for it because he is not serious. Then I told him that I didn't want to take him and not to bother me and he sent me Facebook messages to the point where I had to block him. I wouldn't guide him for all the money in the world... So that is why he is whining...

Im sorry if I hurt your feelings and made you cry :)

I kinda got some wind of this so to be fair...

The beetle has hired numerous guides from this site and paid them on time (currently has a few trips booked with a guide of this site) and had enjoyable days on the river with them in the past (Good enough that they'll take his money again). He hired Eric Stroup this past weekend and no issues. The beetle has purchased bamboo rods from both reputable and not so reputable people of this site and paid them in advance (well over 1200 in advance). He paid me a considerable amount for a photo I took of him and had canvased.

The beetle is a few sandwiches short of a picnic but he's not going to rip you off. I know he probably busted your chops for a bit but if you actually guide him, he's a good client and quite pleasant to be around. Yeah, he's a ball buster online but he's a pretty funny guy if you don't take anything he says personally, and he's very witty. Gee... I think I might ask him on a date.

Finally... Anytime beetle has received a product or went out with a guide, he's had nothing but nice things to say about them when the day was done.

You are setting the bar quite low you boob

I too have no problem fishing with him or trusting him. He purchased a pontoon boat from me and quickly started having his wife and son work for me as indentured servants to pay it off. He then borrowed 10 bucks form me at McDonalds and out of kindness bought me a small coffee. What i say is true and unbiased. Unlike DC i do not have a man crush for Beetle

But seriously, I have no problem fishing or trusting him.

Are we talking about the guy who thought it was funny to mock someone whom he personnaly knew who had a leg amputation?

I think I'm offended.

Sorry FF. No actual offense meant (unless you're a Celine Dion fan). I've been enjoying your posts on fracking lately, even though I tend to disagree. And I'm sure the whitetail hunters among us found that thread interesting.

Damn...
I was kinda hoping you'd go the other way on that one...
DC needs his site traffic upped(he's giving away shit and THAT is a sure sign.)
A "sorry" just totally wrecks the plan to get him more clicks...

I have some upper D artwork for sale. That's sure to gain a lot of interest!

AJ, I asked you about a guided trip, and had a few questions about technique.

You replied by telling me to send you money, and after you got your money, we could talk shop about technique.

You were rude, but I got thick skin and want to learn nymphing technique.

So I asked how much, and you said to send 350 dollars to your PayPal account.

I think this is pretty fair so far, isn't it, AJ?

Now I own all three of AJ's DVDs. The last time I saw him, at the Somerset show, I bought his new DVD, Mastering the Dead Drift.

You see, I'm obsessed with learning the nymphing game, and have great respect for AJ as a fisherman.

But when AJ asked for 350, I had to tell him politely that George Daniel doesn't even charge 350.

And so AJ told me to hire George Daniel.

Which is when I told AJ that I tried to hire George Daniel, who was my first choice, but that he was booked.

I would still like to fish with you, AJ

You are my second choice, after George Daniel.

Of course, I would make it worth your while, AJ, by tipping you with a signed copy of George Daniel's book,
Dynamic Nymphing. It is the best selling fly fishing book of all time.

Everybody's friend want the sweet, but doesn't want to pay for sugar.

So he pesters AJ. But claims George Daniel is cheaper. Utah throws the bomb. Truth shows otherwise.

Beetle, a legend in his own mind.

TCO fly shop takes provides all gear and food, and takes a cut of the guide fees for the day. I believe AJ runs his own show and don't know what is included. I personally think $350, entire balance up front, for one day of waded trout guiding is a bit high, but if that's what AJ charges, and people pay it, good for him. I don't blame Beetle for choosing not to want to pay that amount, however, he lacks the ability to respectfully say "No thank you".

And as entertaining as beetle's hack job on AJ is, looks like beetle made most of it up. i have never met AJ i do own his euro nymphing video and have pm'd him a few times and he always answered my stupid questions and seems like a good dude.
