Waders

I got a pair of waders for Christmas and used them a couple of times. The boot is the right size but they are for tall people. Is there anything I can do to them except return them because it's to late for that. The size was 9 Tall, if that helps. Has anyone else had this problem. I was thinking of sewing them up but dont want to ruin them. Any thing I can do to shorten them?

Thank You,
Nick

If you sew them, you will probably get wet. How oversized can they possible be? If you are talking about 3-6 inches, when you put them on, fold down the area near your midsection and belt them down. Similar to a skirt.

Or, you can wash them on hot, 3 times in the washing machine, only put them in the dryer twice. They will shrink down a few inches, length wise, not width wise. If you want the width to shrink, you will need to wash them a forth time, 3 times in the dryer :)

Nick,
If we're just talking 3-6 inches, you could always have that operation done where the doctors break your femurs and put in a contraption with screws that you turn a quarter to half a turn every other day that keeps the bones moving apart as they heal. After a couple of months of pain and agony, VOILA!, your fitting into your waders AND you're dunking basketballs! Of course, for the cost of the operation, Mr. Simms would probably fly out, measure you and stitch up a pair of perfectly fitting waders by hand... Well, you think about it... :)

Are you still growing? If so, put them on a shelf, get yourself a new pair and in a year or so, they might fit better. I guess though, if you are still growing, you'd have to tightly bind your feet with rope, so that the boots would still fit a year or so later.

Yeah, I guess I've been no help here. ;)

Do you have some experience with this???!?!?! :p

You can always cut holes for Your arms and make it into full body suit. I would rather do that then wear a skirt :punk:

It's all in your interpretation: Think of it as a "kilt" rather than a skirt. That way you don't suffer any comments about your masculinity.

Oh yea, you don't wear drawers under a kilt. Looks like you'll just have to man up and go commando!

They are almost 8 inches too long. I guess I will try the belt thing see how that goes. If it doesn't work I'll try washing them.
They are Cabelas waders.

If they are from Cabelas you can return them for ANY REASON. Say that you do not like them because they don't match Fly Tier's skirt and make up. Take the store credit and buy a pair that fit. I have seen friends of mine return hundreds of dollars worth of stuff at their store no questions asked...

Well, I guess that'll work, too. (But I still think the whole operation thing has its merits).
