TU Nat'l Meeting, New Hampshire Sept15-19

Ryan R

Headin' to the Lehigh River
Whose going to this year's national meeting up in beautiful Waterville Valley, New Hampshire? I know Rusty Spinner and a bunch of the NJTU guys tend to go every year. My old man and I are making a full vacation trip out of it. We're going up to Pittsburg, NH on Sunday the 12th and will be staying at Lopstick Cabins on the shore of First Connecticut Lake and fishing the awesome trout waters of the Upper Connecticut River and tributaries. We'll be staying up there until Friday, Sept. 17th before driving down for the TU National meeting where we've also booked our room at the Pilgrim Inn & Cottages in nearby Plymouth, NH.

From what I saw of the agenda, they are running several fishing trips I believe on Thursday, one being a trip up to Pittsburg to fish the Upper Conn. That trip is limited to 8 people. It's about a 2hr run from Waterville to Pittsburg (on the agenda it says 2.5hrs). If you want to fish this great river I'd say book now at Lopstick for Wednesday night and fish Wednesday afternoon/evening and all day Thursday. Cabins start at $89 a night-fridges, stove, coffee makers, SAT TV, microwaves, etc.(some have gas grills on the porches too.) We booked the Anglers Roost for 5 nights for $445 with an awesome view of the lake and Mt. Magolloway, hard to beat it!

Let's hear a little roll call of who is going up?

Tall Timbers Lodge, also in Pittsburgh, NH is another great place to stay up there. I'll be working, tough job but someone has to do it:)

Our NJTU contingent is typically large every year at the national meeting, but I only go if invited by the boss or have the time and funds to attend on my own. This year is close by, so the funds shouldn't be a big problem. Don't know if national will pay my way otherwise because sometimes they need extra staff help as they did last year in MI. I'll possibly crash at a co-worker's (Joe Norton - TU's Upper Connecticut Home Rivers Initiative Coordinator) place and float the upper Ct. with him before the meeting.

Yeah Tall Timbers is another recommended place, supposed to be real nice. It's on Back Lake I think and also has the Rainbow Trout Grill right? I've only stayed at Lopstick Lodge, no restaurant on the premises but plenty of accomodations from comfortable efficiencies to homes and cabins right on the river or lake.

Personally, I can't wait for September, I love it up there and I'm really looking forward to another stay. Maybe we can get some fishing in together up there one day.
