South Branch River report.

Caddis

wanna be fly fisher.
Drove past the South Branch yesterday around 3:30pm. The water level looked slightly high and chocolate.

When I left my father's house around 7:30, the water cleared up considerably. I can only imagine that the water is perfectly fishable today.

Get out there!

south branch update

I was out yesterday, The stream is a little high, but very fishable. I was there for about an 1hr nada :( . I noticed a couple of hard rises right along the shore line. I figured they were sunnies and left them alone.

After another 20mins, I said what the heck. Thoses 'sunnies' turned out to be trout. I guess they are still adjusting to hitting surface flies ... or I'm adjusting to them. :p

Yup, You should never assume ... cause it means you don't catch fish for about 1hr & half. :D

I fished the gorge yesterday afternoon for the first time this year. I caught quite a few. The water was still off color, but I only saw about 5 other fishermen in the gorge. All fish were caught on soft hackle flies. Caddis were coming off, but fish were not on them. The water temp was 60 degrees at 3:00 in the afternoon when I left.

Jason; You are right about the water in the KLG, but the fishing was very productive. I fished sunrise to elevenish and only saw two others fishing. Caught most on 18 bhpt and a few on an 18 copper john. Love it without the crowds.
