SIMMS Headwaters Boot Review
Finally broke down and got a new pair of wading shoes.
I bought the Simms Headwaters with the StreamTread soles.
I added carbide studs to the Vibram soles.

I used them for the first time at the Lower Gorge last Sunday.
Lots of large rocks protruding above water and under water, many covered with slime. I also make good use of a wading staff.
Comparing them to my old felt-soled boots, It is my opinion that the new Vibram soles ( with added studs ) give adequate traction - not quite as "sticky" as felt soles - but still up to the job. I am estimating ( IMO only ) that they are 90% as good as felt soles ( with the added studs ).
Comfort level was high. I have large and wide ( flat ) feet.
I have heard that the Simms boots were best for narrow-footed angler's feet - NOT SO.
I have EE to EEE width and severe problems with arthritis in my ankles ( sports injuries ).
I bought mine in size 13 and these are the most comfortable boots that I have ever used.
Ankle support / stability is EXCELLENT. Toe room is also EXCELLENT.
I am most pleased with this purchase so far.
These are not the most expensive wading shoes that Simms carries and although the price tag is relatively high, I think they are well worth what I paid.
