Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Should I buy a 9'?

Looking for some input. I just started fishing the WB last season, yes it was a humbling learning experience. I didn't get out a lot last year 3 or 4 trips to the WB zero fish, but I feel that I learned a few things and am really looking forward to this season. One thing I have heard is that a 9' would be helpful on larger water such as the WB. If I do go with a 9' I was looking at the Sage z axis I believe it was? What about T&T? I guess I am looking for input on 9' fly rods. I don't feel like breaking the bank but then again I don't mind spending money on a "go to" rod and one I will be happy with for many years of fishing.
By the way is there any planned NEFF meet at this weekends "come hell or high water"? I will be up both Friday and Saturday night, scheduled a float for Saturday also, (first one). Do you think there will be any bargains from the dealers at the event on a new 9'?

A 9' rod is a good choice for the WB. I use a 9' Orvis Zero Gravity 6 wt., a 9' Sage VT2 4wt (a little light for the WB), and a 10' Sage Z axis 5wt.

I love the 10 footer and find myself using it more often. I use it early season with a Rio 200 grain sink tip and big streamers. It's also a nice nymph rod. That extra foot also helps a great deal on windy days.
