Rising Fish

Had to stop at the accountant yesterday to take care of Mr Taxman and since it's near my favorite local hole, I thought I'd stop by and see what was happening. Should have had my rod with me. There were at least 8-10 nice browns rising regularly and it was a pleasure to just sit and watch them for 10 or 15 minutes. I couldn't see what they were rising to, so I'm guessing it was either something in the film or possibly midges. I didn't want to get to close for fear of putting down the whole pool. Going back today with the rod...hopefully the weather will hold up for a while. Heard it's supposed to be windy...

Spring is on its way. NJ streams shut down tomorrow until opening day except for the TCAs and wild streams.

Follow up to this morning's message...8 browns and one bow today on a local wild trout stream. The bow was an obvious holdover from last years stocking. Browns were all wild...nicely colored and full of fight. Rising to midges most of the day however caught most on GRHE's and scuds. Lost another 4-5 fish. The cold and wind put slowed the fish down in the afternoon, but they were still hitting occasionally when we left around 4pm. Great day to be on the water!

Great for ya Dave. Glad you had a good day out there. It has been real windy here, and very cold. Sposed to go down to 5 above tonight. But hopefully it's going to warm up later in the week. I am sick of winter. Wonderin' if i should check the level in my fuel tank for the heat/hot water in the house. Put 900 somethin' gallons in there back in Nov. i think it was...........should be ok. Calander says spring...........what a joke. lol, mark

Hang in there Mark...looks like the weekend is going to be warmer finally. We're headed to southeastern VA to see the folks. Probably do some bass fishing with my Dad if the weather holds.

I'm thinking about hitting some TCA's prior to opening day in NJ. That's all I have left for now. I'm going to try to get up to your area this summer.

Good deal Dave...........definately try to make the "Gathering." It's gonna be a blast. I've been working in the gallery the last couple days to get it ready. It's a never ending battle with the spiders. Don't forget the One Pattern Contest on Fri. June 4th, and Neversink River Day on June 3rd. Not to mention special guest tyers, and the big diner on Sat.
