Went to Point Mountain TCA on the Musky for the first time ever on Friday afternoon (I usually fish the KLG or elsewhere on the south branch and tried the Pequest earlier this winter). It was warm and bugs were hatching everywhere -- clouds of midges, stoneflies, some dark colored caddis and some pretty large mayflies (they looked yellowish to me but I am not adept enough at identifying any species). I tied on a grey bodied dark winged caddis and caught about 20 fish. Including the one below.

I had never had a day like that before. What a GREAT stream. (Yes, yes, I know it was freshly stocked on Monday and the stockies are incredibly dumb). I actually got tired of catching fish and called some stranger over to my spot to take over for me. As I was leaving, he immediately had a fish on.
I went back to the Musky today, Sunday. It was pretty chilly with only some sporadic hatches, mostly midges. I tied on the dark caddis but added a zebra midge as a dropper. I caught about 7 fish, including this one.

I caught most on the dropper, but a few did hit the dry. I had a huge rainbow on the zebra midge but I could not get it in my net. I was just about to land it when it took off downstream then it came off the hook. I realized that I have no idea how to land a really big fish.
