Whats up guys. Whats your opinon on Orvis Pro Guide2 waders? Got a Gift Cert. to Orvis and was thinking of picking up a pair.
Thanks

I've never owned Orvis waders but from what I heard Orvis has the highest return rate on waders among all other companies. Do not intend to discourage, but it's what I heard.
I'm sure there are some people on this board who will tell from their personal experience. :fish:

P.S. I can vouch for Simms.

Thanks, would love to get them from Simms but its a gift cert to Orvis. A rather large one actaully. Figured I just pick up some waders since my Redingtons are now water balloons!

I'd go to an Orvis Company Store, such as Orvis New York. The Company stores carry Simms Waders and it would give you the chance to compare them side by side. Then you decide.

Thanks Joe, I actually work 4 blocks from that store. Never noticed that they sell Simms as well. Thanks for the info, going there right now!

I have a pair of the Orvis Pro Guide 2. I returned my original pair of pro guide last year for a repair and they decided to send me a new pair, I wasn't about to complain. My original pair didn't really leak, just a minor damp knee on occasion, nothing noticeable until I would take them off. I used the originals for several years, so my real motive was to get a new pair. I was fortunate enough that it worked out that way. BTW that is why Orvis has one of the largest return rates. People know that Orvis will more then likely just ship a new product rather then fix it, similar to Timberland boots. Good luck

last I heard Orvis had turned over manufacter to Simms or some other major wader mfgr to be sold under the Orvis name, if this is true, the quality should be ok. Aslo I have had the Orvis Guide waders for three years with no problem, I also know a guy who fisher 2-3 times a week and has had his for over a year with no problem. I think the problems were with one of the cheaper models.

I bought a pair of orvis backwater or tailwater - (pricey)-
the concept is nice the waders have the built in boots .
From the start i had a problem with the right side leaking
Maybe a manufactuer error . So i have been a bit dissapointed with them.
Joe

Feather-Craft will let you use Orvis gift certificates to buy any product in the catalog, whether it's an Orvis item or not.

Thanks for all of the info guys. Either way I go it seems that the return policy for both is good. Just gonna have to try both on to see which ones fit the best. Thanks again.

Anyone know if Orvis did infact turn over manufacturing of their waders over to Simms? IF that is that case I am assuming that their new waders are of better quality.

I have had my Orvis lightweights for like 5-6 yrs now and wore out two pairs of boots before a leak. I hope that dont change this year but they have been loaned out too and came back without a leak. Couldnt imagine ever owning another kind.
