On-Stream Photograpy Advantage

The recent discussion of macro/micro photography of insects has not mentioned another advantage of carrying a camera with you on-stream. Since I started carrying my Canon Powershot three years ago, I have only fallen in once...and that was so quick that the camera (it got a bit damp) still works! I can't imagine carrying one of the digital SLRs while I'm wading...they are far to big (and $$$) for me to do that.

I've had my Canon Powershot A75 since last September. I've had many close calls until last week when I took a header into lake I was fishing. I was in the shallow water/mud walking parallel to shore. I tripped on a submerged tree root and went flying head first into the 60F water. The camera was in a zippered carrying case but still got wet. It didn't function again until a few hours later. Thankfully it still worked because I had several pictures of a 23" Largemouth saved on there!
