Hi, i just recently picked up the fly rod and have been "hooked". I live on the border of Rockland county and was wondering if anyone knew of some good smallmouth spots relatively close, or trout spots it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mclancy

I have caught smallmouth in the Delaware river, any where along central and northern NJ...I found them in deep rapids mostly...but I claim no expertise in things of this sort. Good luck!

end of communication. protocol fulfilled. this post will self-destruct in 10,9,8....

Soooo...WTF? My post disappeared? and you saw it happen...what the??!?!?!?

The Wallkill River in both NJ and NY is full of smallies. I've never fished it, but I know that to be the case. Wish I could give you some spots, but Bergen County streams are also full of smallies. The Delaware is your top river in the general area for them, but as it gets colder, they get tougher to catch. Best to focus on trout in the fall and winter.

West Branch of the Croton has both smallies and Browns. Ramapo probably has smallies. Try up by Tuxedo.
