My Apologies for last weeks attempt to silence the hate.

Hey forum I wish to apologize for my efforts last week to get some cease and desist action going.

Apparently it stirred up more problems then it was worth, brought the worst behavior out in a few. My intentions were good and founded in a positive outcome, however, that was not going to happen as it just seemed to stir the pot.

I had some positive contacts via PM and thank those individuals for there feedback. I failed to here from Dennis or Jim and noted that there response was to completely delete my thread.

Thus the apology. It seems that thread was so bad that considering all the other gb threads it was the one that caught the most heat and either dennis or jim feel it needed to be gone.

Again my apologies.

Don't apologize. You made a statement against the silliness that many don't care for. But, this isn't the kind of site where stuff gets deleted. It was just moved to the "Non Flyfishing Related" section where it belonged(given the turn it took). You need to ask Dcabarle to give you access to that forum. If you WANT access to the shenanigans that usually end up there, , just PM him. BUT, think long and hard about that one; I think for some, ignorance is bliss.

Who's this, "Jim" guy you keep talking about? "Pete" is our site moderator. When I move something to the opt in forum, everythone thinks it's him. This means I sit back and look like the good guy while he takes all the heat! Keep that between us though as I can't risk anyone knowing what I just told you (Seriously).

Your topic wasn't deleted. Like Dennis said, it was moved to an "opt-in" forum. If you haven't asked Dennis for access, you won't be able to "see" the opt-in forums.

It wasn't moved because of anything you said, but because of the direction the topic was taking....

BTW: If some of the stuff we don't move, seems offensive. You may not want access.

For some reason abusive topics seem to get more "hits' than posts about fly fishing, (even after they've been moved). It may be like a train wreck, a bad auto accident, or a brawl... You know you shouldn't look, but can't resist.

I joined this forum back when ...it was 99.9% about flyfishing (only 3 years ago)... I took a sabbatical ...and was really surprised at how vicious it had become when I started to pop in this winter. I'll say it again here and now: I'm on a broad spectrum of forums and on NO other forum is the type of beligerence that has been exhibited here tolerated. The moderators are on it in a flash. It's simply not allowed to propagate.

I hope in the future not to see that type of behavior it's just disrespectful to the entire forum. Yes, a lot of people focus on bad juju. It's a shame but true, furthermore, good people get drawn in to that type of discourse. We can all make the right choices ...hopefully.

Chris - let me bring your attention to the site that the Drake magazine runs. Go there and read it. You'll be back with your tail between your legs and embrace the most "vicious" posts on NEFF that ever occurred. This site ain't got nuthin on that one!!!!!!!!!!

Stick it out, I haven't seen any difference the past 3 years myself, but I try (not always successfully) not to get bent out of shape with the shenanigans. Embrace them and chuckle because laughter is the best medicine. It's all meant in good fun. As for the "opt in forum" you just ask DC to let you in. He'll warn you first, but anyone can get access just by asking. If you decide it's not for you, another PM to Dennis will get you right back out.

I say, AWESOME! OThers will refuse to post in the threads as they are afraid of revealing a location...

I used to post reports all the time...It was 2 springs ago, and I fished 5 days a week for atleast 4 hours...Than January, I cut my leg IN HALF due to a skiing accident, so I was out of school, YET, I still got out and fished, that much...Im sure those people who saw will chime in, but I was in crutches and an articulating cast att he gorge, FISHING... haha Anyway, I posted reports pretty regularly, and about 2 weeks into it, MANY people PM-ed me or expressed their displeasure on my report threads, about how I should be posting reports of the GORGE...I actually got a pm that said it was a "hidden gem", LOL!!!!

Anyway, its ashame what this website has come to, but its what the mods like, to an extend...The edginess is what keeps people coming back to check things out...

ps...here is my leg, post-2nd surgery lol Im on my 6th now... Only thing holding my leg together was the skin behind my knee...The helicopter ride off the mountain was the most exciting part about it haha
