Anyone know where to pick this book up? Shannon's always seems to be sold out... I live in Bergen county so anywhere nearby would be best..

Amazon.com

Support your local shop when you can. You will not get a better deal on this book at amazon. plus shipping. Also you will likley pickup some other things needed while at the LOCAL shop. Can't get tippet at that other place...:nose-picking:

A week ago I went into Tight Lines for a couple of spools of leader material....

$81.00 dollars later Drew & John released me from the head lock.

Did I happen to mention they accept all major credit cards?

Boy I can't tell you how many times I went into a fly shop with a specific item or two that i wanted and walked out like you with a beating and a bill for $120 dollars. This also happened again while on Vacation in New Hanpshire this past 4rth of July.

Now for Amazon.com. They have books at good prices and at times you get free shipping. I bought that book and paid a little less than I would have in any other book store. I believe in supporting fly shops that sale tying materials, tippets leaders and line and so on, but for books I like to shop at book stores. Just like fly shops you need to support other stores as well, Don't you think?

yeah.. but Andy...

Everyone knows you are loaded with dough.

Just be careful if you manage to get a signed copy of the book. When Matt signed my book it was as though he could tell the future like Miss Cleo. Sure enough what he wrote in my book came true. I have cursed Matt G. ever since then..

Some of the benefit to buying Matt's book at a fly shop would be that when Matt publishes a new book the shop might be more willing to purchase the new book knowing that it is something customers would purchase at a shop. If you are a fly tier you could also review the fly selection in the book and purchase any needed materials while at the shop.

I support the local American owned shops as much as possible. I don't know the owners of amazon and never will. Don't take this at face value as many don't know me or ever will. Andy B, we have met but never introduced. I was with Al at the show when you showed him some things.

I don't shop at many places around me for personal reasons. Do I buy from Amazon? Yes I do and have a book one the way now. If I were to be able to pick up the book locally I would have.

As far as saying shop locally. When you can buy a local writers book in your local store I would say I have to do it. Now if that book had the price jacked up then I would have to find it elsewhere for the cover price not inflated for a signature or the fact he hangs out there.

Now if Matt were to sign my book I would have to go out and buy a new one so I would not ruin the copy he signed. Maybe next time I see him..

Coloradoguide,
That book is in our rotation and it is rare that we don't have at least a couple of copies around. I'm sorry we were out of it when you stopped by. Recently, I couldn't find a good hatlight with the four or five LED lights so I bought one on Amazon. Apparently, TFO used to carry it but had to drop it from their catalogue. I usually either working or fishing so Amazon is convenient.-JH

Rollcast,
Thanks for supporting your local fly shops. I have to say that we have to support you guys as well by having as much inventory and good information as possible. A store also needs to keep good hours and offer lessons and instruction. The fly fishing industry still believes that fly shops are the best way to market their specialized inventory but it is our responsibility to have as many of those products available and priced as is reasonably possible.

Tightlines 28 route 46 in pinebrook has a bunch on the front counter.

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that problem. I never get out cheap. They are great there so it's worth it.

Efinger's has 14 copies in stock.

They are not on the book rack.

They are on the end of the fly tying material isle directly across from the reel display case.
