Looking for a river or lake to fish trout in or near Toms River.

Hi guy's, I just moved to Toms River and I am looking for fresh water lakes or river's on a 50 mile radius of Toms River. I was hoping sombody here can help me out and give me good directions to any they might know off !

Within a 50 mile radius, you have hundreds of options. I'm not too familiar with the fishing near Toms River, but I know the Raritan to begin with is not too far away. I'm pretty sure every freshwater species of fish you could find in the raritan. The north and south branches of the raritan come together to form the main raritan, and both of them are also excellent fisheries. There are many places on the South Branch that still hold trout. The north branch has a great smallmouth population from Far Hills all the way down to it's confluence with the south branch. The south branch also has some smallmouth and big carp. I know the Toms River should be a stone's throw away and the manasquan river should be close by. I don't fish lakes too often, and never in south jersey or near the ocean, so I couldn't tell you which ones are worthwhile. Try google, it helps.

Take up saltwater fishing, in another month we will be in the thick of it.Any lake you come across will hold pickerel sunnies and some bass.If you want trout your going to have to head north r go to pa. They do stock the squan, toms and metedaconk but not really worth the time to fish them. I live in forked river when the beach heats up I'll let you know.

Also, just drive around and stop when you see a fishy spot. I do it all the time. This is how I have found most of my favorite fishing spots. If you're looking for trout, stay away from the coast and south jersey. If not, drive around locally and have fun.

I was wondering, the east and west branches of the deleware, when they come together, does it form the main deleware?

Pine lake is near the Trout Conservation Area in Toms River. There also looks like a good lake in Lakehurst (just off 70). For other lakes You'll need to try further inland, Lakewood has a lake in town, Colliers Mill WMA has two. Here's the link to fish and game's listing of lakes in Ocean County.
