Larry Donahe bamboo rod...

I ordered and received a 7'9" 5 wt. bamboo rod from Larry Donahe.

It is a 3 piece rod.

A few of the folks on NEFF have cast this rod.

Most notably, BHC cast the rod.

And some less accomplished fly fishers cast this rod.

Not sure if any of them merits a mention here, but perhaps worthy of a footnote is DCabarle, who also cast the rod.

I will post pictures of this rod shortly.

I will say this tho...

If you want to buy a bamboo rod, you can't go wrong with Larry Donahe. He's great in every way and I mean that sincerely.

If I was paying that much for a single hand rod, it would be a vintage rod from a maker who is not around anymore. I'd pay that much for a bamboo spey rod, but I would have a hard time justifying paying $2k for a new single hand bamboo rod. Unless it was like a Mike Clark or Bob Summers rod.

It's your money, and if you cast the rod and like it then go for it. I was just saying his rods are a bit pricey for my taste.

This rod is more affordable and it comes with hook, line and sinker!

I cast 110 feet with Ronbo's Payne 102.

Robbo and Barleywine both saw it.

There were two other old guys there to witness it, narcodog and curt.
