Lake Musconetcong Water Chestnut weed removal day Aug. 20th

When: Saturday, August 20th
Where: Parking lot next to Arbolino Park (Center Street, Netcong)
Time: 9 am

Bring a canoe, kayak or rowboat and a pair of gloves. Help State Parks and the NJ Invasive Species Strike Force eradicate this highly invasive weed in the lake. This weed could destroy the lake and kill off all remaining fish and lower DO into the upper Musconetcong River. I have been involved in previous hand-pulling efforts when the water chestnuts covered nearly 30% of the lake's surface, but a chemical treatment was applied late last year and now we are trying to fight the remaining weeds to get them out once and for all (except for any that spring up due to the long gestation period for their seed pods).

Come on out and give the lake and the Musconetcong watershed a hand on the 20th! For more info, call Chris Trainor at 908-537-7060 or email him at americorps@northjerseyrdc.org or contact me here on via email at: BCowden@tu.org

If you come out, please wear a TU hat or shirt if you have one. Thanks in advance!

Rusty, may I ask...

What gives?
