Lake Hopatcong Water Level Management – Response from the State
Early last week I received a letter from Director of Watershed Management Larry Baier written on behalf of Mark Mauriello, Acting Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The letter was in response to the concerns expressed by the MWA and many of our members last spring. As a result of the events of last spring, and the comments of the MWA and many other organizations, the NJDEP is convening an advisory group that will examine the Lake Hopatcong Water Level Management Plan and the procedure for the annual drawdown of the Lake. MWA has been given a seat on this panel to ensure that the interests of the river are fully considered.
Mr. Baier wanted me to share the letter with MWA members, the letter in its entirety appears at the end of this e-mail.
I want to thank all of you who took the time to write to the Commissioner and those of you who support the work of the MWA in many other ways.

The above mentioned letter wouldn't copy. It summarized the events of last spring and came up with a plan to meet with affected parties to come up with a revised management plan. TU wasn't mentioned as a party at the table. I know Beth pretty well though, and I know she has the best interest of the river and it's Trout at heart.
