Korker Outfitter Wading Boots

AKSkim

Boston - Title Town USA
I purchased a pair of Korker Outfitter wading boots in September, I was in the market for a new pair of boots that could fill a number of requirements. Korker soles for fishing the Salmon River, felt soles for spring creeks, and rubber soles when having to walk into a stream. So the Korker seemed like the pair for me. I must say I was at first leary of the slip in soles and velcro strap. After my Alaskan trip I was pleased with the selection.

Two weeks ago in Pulaski I had to walk into an area through snow about 4 inches deep. I kept losing the korkers, when I got to the stream, I used the water to get the trapped snow from inside the slot. I soon discovered that after that the sole does not stay in place for very long. This past weekend, no snow but after a walking for a short distance the sole falls out. The lip does not appear to be damaged, it just doesn't hold the sole while walking through mud or any other substance than hard pavement.

I was wondering if anyone else out there has a pair and have experienced the same problem? If they were able to resolve the problem of the sole from coming out, how was this accomplished?

I am drafting a letter to Korker's to see how we maybe able to resolve this situation in the mean time.

Thank you in advance.

I've been using them for about a year now. I haven't had that problem, but you're not the first one I've heard of who has had the inserts come out. I put the metal studded soles in and left them in, I haven't been swapping them in and out.

Let me know what the company says.

I have had the same problem, but very infrequently. It seems like the velcro "slips" after some use and allows the sole to back out of the lip. For now, I just make sure to re-tighten them after each time I put them on.

It really should be a more reliable mechanism holding it tight, rather than a strip of velcro. Other than that, the boots are great.

I was a bit skeptical when I saw them in the store... after witnessing what you describe I am even more doubtful. From my past years snowboarding I know velcro and snow dont mix. I am in the market for new corkers after my last trip... I lost my left corker now its somewhere in the upper upper.

Good point gentlemen, however, I taped the velcro and still the problem persisted.

I sent an e-mail to the company and I will keep you informed.

As a follow up, I sent them an e-mail and still no word.

Three weeks and counting...

Good o'l customer service!

UPDATE 09DEC06

This morning I went to Delaware River Outfitter's ( I am finishing up on making a 9ft, 10 wt rod for next year salmon season) I brought my new pair of Korker wading boots (purcased in September 2006) with me to seek their assistance in dealing with Korker and the response from him was exactly as I had expected.

When I explained the problem and showed how loose the insert is in the boot he was amazed and I was assured he would contact the company on Monday (which they are normally closed, except DRO is open on Monday's till Christmas) and get me satisfaction.

So I will continue to keep you abreast of the situation.

As always, hoping the bottoms of my "new" wading boots stay on.

Mark at Delaware River Outfitter's where I purchased my wading boots contacted the company on my behalf, since they didn't care to return any on my correspondence.

He informed me that I should mail back the boots to the company with a short note explaining the problem and they will replace them.

As AK Best is fond of saying, "Life is indeed good!"

Ditto.

Life is not indeed good if I was in need of my wading boots.

Here it is February and still no sign of my REPLACEMENT wading boots from Korkers....

Maybe it is due to the extream cold weather we have been experiencing, after all those Pony Express riders can only travel so far each day on horse back.

Either that they sent it via snail mail book rate.

AK - Thanks for once again reminding me that my next pair of wading boots will be L.L. Bean's :D

my next pair of wading boots will be L.L. Bean's :D

You and me both bro...

Watched the Pony Express rider go by this morning without stopping.

Another day without my Korker Wading Boots.. now fast becoming a distant memory.

So much for customer service.... a huge disappointment.

As always, learning lifes little lessons one day at a time.

Korker Outfitter Wading Boots Update 2.28.07

NO BOOTS.. NO WORD...

Sent another e-mail off to them.

Tomorrow.. the phone calls begin....

Re: Korker Outfitter Wading Boots Update 2.28.07

I have more negative feedback about Korkers wading boots.

This past weekend, the stitching on the back of mine completely tore, leaving a 2 inch tear in it. I haven't had them for a year yet. Hopefully the service will be a little better than the quality...but from this thread, the outlook isn't good.

A simple phone call did the trick.

They found my boots, inspected them, and will be sending a brand new pair.

Lesson learned: when you send an item back to the manufacturer, get a control or tracking number.

I will announce the joyous moment when the boots arrive.

Gent's

My Korker boots have arrived!

Forget the e-mail... I learned to just call them and got action very quickly.

They were very, very nice on the phone and did everything they said they would.

Now I can't wait to hit the stream and beat the ever-living daylights out of my new boots this spring.

Thanks again to Jason.

As always, have boots will wade.

I have beat the ever living daylights out of these boots and still they continue to be supportive, the sole stays put, and other than looking like hell on the bottom, the uppers look great..

They have performed well above expectations.

As always, standing up right with my Korkers on.
