KLG fernerculosous article

Better that he released it and reported it.....He could have released it and kept his mouth shut...He was probably just following the rules and did'nt want to be ticketed or cursed by other anglers for keeping in a no kill section.....Without his reporting it none of us would know of a possible river outbreak.....Now we and any lurkers KNOW to keep possibly infected fish....Could be pandoras box too, with ppl keeping fish and if approached just saying "thougt it was infected and was gonna report and hand over the fish"....Thats really reaching but this is joisey....

Kinda worried about this but with all the research i've done, furnuculosis is absolutely nothing new in the rest of the country....I really don't think there is anything to worry about....Only time will tell:smiley-sniffer:

They found a single, previously stocked brown trout in that last sampling several weeks ago that tested positive for furunculosis, but they did not find that particular rainbow. All other fish tested came up negative. At this point, there is no way to know where that single brown contracted the disease or where its hatchery of origin was if it was infected there. There are 3 hatcheries to consider and only the state's Pequest hatchery is known to be infected of the three. Hence them going back today to take further tests of our wild fish. The Division is being cautious as to the health of our wild trout and I applaud that effort so far. Those trout tested further upstream all tested negative the other week, FYI.
