Had the day off from work. My original plan was to fish the Big D for Smallies but that river looked blown out by the river gauge so I changed plans and headed for the South Branch instead.
Ideal conditions. Falling water slightly off color. The two hot flies were big stonefly nymphs and Isonichia Nymphs. Caught a dozen or so with a grand slam off all three species. Not too crowded. Just a pleasant day on the water.
The contractor improving the road has been busy. There are piles of gravel in the monument pool parking lot as well as a small shipping container. They were doing a walk through and I talked to one of the guys briefly. According to him there will be a gate at each end and most of the road will only be improved for drainage and graveled.
