Johnny's Trout Bane

[Johnny Utah]

Here is a nymph i tie and use often. You can just switch the feather and colors and make all sorts of banes. It is more a tying technique then any given pattern.

Materials​

Hook- Daiichi 1550 16-24​

Thread- Uni 8/0 Light cahlill​

Tail- Pheasant tail fibers​

Abdomen- Thread with pheasant tail fibers tied in on top​

Rib- Tying thread​

Wing case- Pheasant tail Fibers​

Thorax- Light yellow u.v. Ice dub​

Legs(optional)- Pheasant tail fibers​

Your correct, the fly is a quick tie for sure. Ill have the H.T.P. Trout bane up in a little while. I think you will like that one as well. The trout sure do.

I am not breaking you balls.....I love that fly...I was given the exact fly earlier this summer by an older well know fly tier..No it was not Grobert..it is a killer when the hebes are out and about....nice fly.....yes it worked very well in skinny water....

It's not that I care. I just think its pretty cool that my flies are getting around. It's quick tie that pounds fish, I'm glad people are catching on. I will keep doing what I do. Thanks for the support!

I'm not sure what you are saying with this. If you're saying that you also like Stroup's jbug, then fine.
That's also a nice tye. But if you're implying that JU's trout bane is a copy of the jbug, then I disagree.

Both flies use pheasant tail for the tail and shellback, but other than that, they differ in several materials, and the trout bane simplifies the process (i.e. thread body, thread rib, and the way you make the legs) which makes it easier to tye in smaller sizes.

I like it in the BrownEye, you need to pay more attention to the make of the flies before you start to compare and/or point fingers at other tiers. Just sayin' dont want you to look like a BrownEye especially if you ARE a noob on this forum.
