Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Islamberg in Catskills

They should open a fishing/hunting camp.
The restaurant wouldn't serve pork, but venison and most game birds are halāl.
Sorry, no beer :crap:

They pretty much keep to themselves and don't bother anyone. Whenever I've been down doing anything at the diner, they'll stop by and say hello and couldn't be nicer. I've joked with them about Islamburg being a terrorist training camp ,and they'll smile and laugh and tell me how many times people call the FBI on them when the local quarry nearby blasts . A friend of mine called me last week and said a TV camera crew was down by the diner ,so I drove down there and they were there to cover the story about the 3 goofballs they arrested in Rochester who made bomb threats. I used to own a Pizza place in Newark, That was way more dangerous than being near Islamburg. I had an employee who was a big black guy who converted to Islam in prison. This guy was one of the nicest guys I ever knew, and always had my back if any shit went down with any knuckleheads from the nearby projects. Was a solid stand up guy.I asked him why he converted to Islam in prison and he said he found a peace and respect for himself that he never had before, and he changed his life around when he got out of prison. I really respected and liked this guy,and was proud to call him a friend .Every religion has their fanatics and bad apples ,from what I've experienced ,and talked to local people and police, the residents of Islamburg pretty much just want to live in peace ,and actually came down and helped out and fed people when the big floods happened a few years back.
I put the restaurant on the back burner this year, been super busy with some other things, but plan to start working on it this spring
And get it open.

Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, the Pakistani Sufi cleric whom the Islamberg residents call their spiritual leader, has long been suspected of being one of the founders of a group called Jamaat al-Fuqra, a group that the U.S. and Pakistan say is responsible for a long list of terrorist activities around the world, including murders of rival religious figures in the U.S.

Gilani also was the man American reporter Daniel Pearl was going to see when he was abducted and murdered.

NYPD Counter-Terrorism Investigations

The NYPD’s investigation into MOA included penetrating the organization with an informant named Ali Abdel-Aziz, who was a member for at least 8 years and lived at Islamberg for two years. He is a major figure in the Mixed Martial Arts industry.

He began telling his story in 2011 by talking to activist Martin Mawyer, President of the Christian Action Network, who has released a documentary[32] and book about Fuqra/MOA.[33] Reporter Mike Russell than begin a series of investigative exposes about Ali’s life, revealing a complicated spy story.[34][35]

More comprehensive information about Ali Abdel-Aziz can be found in the section of this website dedicated to first-hand testimony.

Islamberg and MOA’s New York network were under New York Police Department (NYPD) investigation as of 2009. A NYPD counter-terrorism document from 2006 lists MOA as a “Tier One Group” for intelligence-gathering and indicated it was penetrated by an informant but the Department did not have an undercover officer inside the group. [36] An October 2007 NYPD document shows that a surveillance camera was set up on a pole near 1291 Dean St. in Brooklyn for a case involving MOA.[37]

A 2009 NYPD document shows that Fuqra/MOA was the subject of a Terrorism Enterprise Investigation (TEI #14/03) and one MOA member of concern was under surveillance as part of the Terrorism Enterprise Investigation into the Tablighi Jamaat group.

It stated that Mian Ahmad, who lived at Islamberg “for some time” and “was and may still be” a member of MOA, is a member of the Masjid Zakariyya mosque in Buffalo that is part of the Tablighi Jamaat network. It said that Mian Ahmad is on a terrorism watch list. Three other attendees of the mosque, Farid Bhana, Abdulmuqeet Choudhury and Muhammad Sadruzzaman, were identified as being on terrorism watch lists.

Sadruzzaman is named as a possible member of a terrorist organization and it says he led a “jamaat” from the mosque attended by MOA member Mian Ahmad to Masjid Al-Huda in Lackawanna. The leader of the mosque attended by Ahmad and the New York Tablighi Jamaat network arranged various international trips of concerns, including ones that included terrorism suspects and involved stays in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Talagan-Multan, Pakistan.[38]

So the NYPD investigated Islamberg. And... ?

You know who else the NYPD investigated in recent years? Hundreds of random Muslim student groups and mosques all over the region, something they had no business doing. In Jersey, the NYPD got sued for violating civil liberties and pretty much had their asses handed to them. I believe they've scaled back these investigations in recent years, realizing they overstepped.

Don't buy these cloak-and-dagger guilt-by-association scare tactics Joe! Talk to people like Hatchman who have actually dealt with Islamberg residents. They're being scapegoated.

(cue obligatory goat fucking joke. I put it on a tee for you dennis)

Others get investigated via unfounded FISA warrants and secret courts. Others get spied upon without warrants. Has their ass been handed to them?

They should be locked up.This is apples and oranges

With all due respect nobody here knows me or who I may know so to come out and have an opinion is kind of funny

It is a fact that Islamberg in Hancock has had terrorist connections for years.

I can keep the facts coming forever.

One of the Major problem is that we the Americans have become complacent since 9/11.The Goat fuckers want to kill us all.And i'm proud to say I know people over seas that are handing them -lets say justice.

The NYPD hoped to identify groups that were radicalizing other Muslims in order to prevent future attacks in NYC. The use of the terms "investigate and enforcement" is not accurate when it's documented that in these alleged "civil rights violations", the NYPD merely had informants attend mosques during scheduled service and attend open/advertized student forums to listen to the content of their discussion as well as listen to speakers the mosque and student groups invited to speak to their members.
The NYPD also didn't get their asses handed to them in the ruling. They came to an agreement in line with the NYPD's long standing HANDSHU protocols.
I applaud the NYPD for attempting to prevent another terrorist attack in NYC and the surrounding area.

Or Donuts!

Donuts , good coffee, Fresh fried chicken , fresh hamburgers, Sabrett hot dogs, crispy Pork roll sandwiches ( for the Jersey crew) , crispy crinkle cut fries, beer battered onion rings and ice cream. Maybe some Boars Head subs on good Italian bread.
....... or sell it to the rich Indian guy for an obscene profit ......
decisions, decisions .....:shrug::;)

Well unless you are catering to the South Jersey crowd, you better make those "crispy Taylor Ham sandwiches".

Lol! I hear ya.Growing up in central and north Jersey we called it Taylor Ham too. Taylor Ham is just a brand of pork roll, but that’s the only kind we bought . There’s a good video on YouTube about
“Pork roll Johnny”, it makes you want to go out and buy a food truck
and sell pork roll sandwiches down the Jersey shore. We used to go to the old Burger Express ( The original ones not there anymore)in Carteret after a night out drinking and get some of the best perfectly cooked( under a steak weight on a griddle)Taylor ham and cheese on a buttered and toasted on a griddle roll and crinkle cut fries , good stuff...
