Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Hot weather = hot water

Anybody recording some scary water temperatures for this time of year? Following this week of HHH weather... the Bushkill (Northampton Co.) is already over 66° F. Also I've noticed that the Pohopoco (Carbon Co.) is reaching 68° F in the afternoons and I just saw a post stating that the upper Lehigh River is in the low 70's already!

Compared to 2004, the Ramapo is way ahead of schedule.

This morning I recorded 74F at about 6:40AM.
July 1st last year 71F at high noon. As I recall, it had remained in the 60s all during June.

I left the house this morning at 5 AM to go fluke fishing (one option to leave the trout alone). The temperature was already 73F - I live a block from the Muskie and that night temperature does not allow the river to cool down. Last year I don't remember many nights with greater than 70F lows all summer.

Hankins on the Delaware yesterday...77
Today at hankins 77

So much for the targets in rev.7
Daily average also missed its target both days.

Callicoon on the upper D, yesterday 79, today 80! And this is below two tailwaters!!! I think there were some bonefish sightings.

I know there was a release today, at 3pm of a high amount of water. I would bet this will be an 8 hour release that will get to Hankins sometime tomorrow after the temps get back into the 70's. Im hoping Im wrong.

Hale Eddy 57
Callicoon 70
Beaverkill 67
A couple of more cool nights and temps will be relatively normal.

The Pohopoco reached a high of 72° F on Tuesday... I see now that it has cooled 10° F since then with these cool nights and cloudy days. The Bushkill has also dropped backed into the low 60's also.

Luckily I have a great diversion locally as the Delaware's smallmouth and panfish have been giving my 4-weight quite a workout.
