Fished the upper of my favorite this morning and I am just amazed at how many holdover rainbows are still in the river.
Flows are low but the water temperatures are good, 64° @ 2pm just before I left for home. I arrived at about 8:15 but didn't start fishing until about 9 because I took a good hike upstream to water I had not previously fished. I picked up one rainbow on my dry and all the rest came on the dropper, the deadly quill nymph with orange hotspot in size 16.
I finished up with a dozen fish landed and a handful more of dropped fish. The fish are really starting to color up nicely as are some of the maple trees with leaves turning red.
