Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Hit and run.

I parked my car at the Shehawken boat ramp today. Someone who clearly should not own a boat hit me. I have his plate number but, if anyone knows this moron, please have him/her contact me before I call the Game Wardens. It's on Federal land; the penalties aren't local hit and run. I'd prefer to deal with this moron than report him, cuz I'm a nice guy.

Ohhhh... Here's the kicker... When I got out of the river, I pull over to get my act together and I'm talking to this guy. I told him some asshole hit my car and left. He tells me that sucks, blah blah blah... Well, I got home and looked at the video and low and behold... I was talking to the guy who hit me!

Now I got a plate and his boat with the car!

I have the same vehicle, but I don't have a drift boat, only a sneak box, and I wasn't at Shehawken.

The power of the internet. I found the person who did this. He said he didn't know he hit my car (I'm not sure how you couldn't know, your car looked like it was having an earthquake, and the noise it made was pretty loud and your window was open.) On top of that, you moved the car to the other side of the parking area after you hit me. Why would you do that?

While I was at the takeout spot, around 6:30 pm, I couldn't figure out why this guy was wearing a face mask with sunglasses on a pretty cloudy day. He kept his back to me. I thought it was strange but everyone is different so I just figured, he's different. When I got home and put the video footage on my computer, it all came together.

Needless to say, I was in contact with the person and he said he'd pay for it or go through insurance. I won't mention names simply because he said he'd take care of it.

I'd recommend that if you own a car, get yourself a dashcam. I've used it 4 times in 5 years, saving me from someone else's word vs my word as well as this type of thing. Trust me, you won't regret it.

D-man, hope you get restitution and this guy doesn't try and pull a fast one. Best course is to get your insurance company involved and if he balks, their guys will track him down and make him pay.

Did you at least catch any fish?

Just goes to show you how many weasels there are out there.

About the fishing... I put the boat in the water and it seemed like it was going to be a great day. Then the wind started and it just blew harder and harder. No matter how hard I rowed, I was moving upstream. I managed 1 15" brown and foul hooked another. Missed a few others as well but, I swear, it wasn't my fault. My wrists were in so much pain from the rowing. Out of all the years I've been fishing up there, this was the windiest I've ever experienced.

As for the guy, I spoke with him yesterday afternoon and he said he will take care of it it via cash or insurance. Turns out we have quite a few mutual friends so I don't think it's going to be an issue.
