GB Mag Issue #8

Published.

Chuck, Charlie and Matt all wrote brilliant articles.

Thank you, to the writers.

These guys are great local writers and make the new issue what it is.

Rest in peace, Andy Royer and Peter Romano.

I'm gonna remind the few who haven't already read the new issue that it's out and for those who are interested, the great writers are our own, locals from NJ and NY, who we know, see at the fly shows, on our wild waters, and fish with.

Chuck C is again great. Build and make. Create...

Charlie's writing is his best. I laughed aloud and think I understand the story, but will read it over and over again. Damn good.

And Matt Novak's story is great, and his pictures are professional quality.

GB Mag is rockin.

Andy Royer passed away earlier this month. He was only 45 years old, and had a baby daughter born about 10 weeks earlier. I only spoke with Andy the one time that I called him to order bamboo, but it was clear that his reputation as a positive and engaging person was genuine. He attended the Catskill Bamboo Gathering last year, and planned to be back this year, but died just 2 days before the gathering. The eulogies for Andy at the event by his friends were heartfelt, and painted the picture of a man who was an inspiration to those who knew him. He was battling stage IV cancer, but never gave up. There's a link to the website of Andy Royer in the Splitting Cane article. I encourage everyone to click the link and take advantage of the information it contains, and read his blog at the site to get an appreciation for the kind of person that Andy was.

Here's a link to the story from Bloomberg News.

It would probably be fair to say that every cane rod builder in the United States relied on Andy Royer for their culms.

Meet the Man Known as the Bamboo Broker - Bloomberg Business

That's an excellent piece featuring Andy! Shows his commitment to people who relied on him; both here and the growers in China, and his amazing attitude.

Many cane rod builders also get their bamboo from the Demarest company in Ohio, but you'll pay added shipping costs. Before Harold and Eileen Demarest passed away, they lived in Bloomingdale, NJ, and I hear that you were able to go there to pick up your bamboo.

I don't care what these posters say about you...........you are one hell of an editor and publisher. Nice issue

No you didn't miss anything. It wasn't meant to be specific ally about this thread or any post. Time to move on.

Move on?!?
Nothing's been said yet that will get anyone(GB) riled up...

We've gotta get NEFF up off it's "boring" ass and bump up the page views.

Let's start over...

SO, GARYB, what's the latest thing you've heard people saying about GB? (Just between you and me).
