Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Mike Valla's recent book covers the most influential fly tiers up to 1969. A lot has happened since then, so who are your top few fly tiers that influenced our sport since 1970? For me they are as follow:

Leonard Wright
John Barr
Caucci & Nastasi
Ed Humphreys
Robert Talleur

There are many tiers that can be added to list of being influential to the craft and art of fly tying. Some wrapped the same fur & feathers to a hook in a little different way, others wrapped them in a new and unique way, and others took what others did and cataloged it as their own. Then there are those who introduced the new materials, both natural & synthetic. New techniques have been developed to best use the new materials.

People like Skok, Popovics, Puglisi, Cowen, Lewis, Collins, Senyo, Galloup, Bisharat, Newsome, Craven, Strolis, Schmidt... and the list goes on and on, all deserve a place in the fly tyers list of influential tyers.

In addition to Ed Humphreys and Robert Talleur, I'd have to add Bob "Fishy" Fulham, and Phil Landheer.

Perhaps Albert Brasko too.

And I think you meant Roseanne Barr.

without a doubt fine rod builder and tyer: Nick Rubico. fine pizza maker too if you find WOP (Wong's Original Pies) open
