Hi Andre,,, Yes Frog's Fanny is just the ticket for CDC emegers dries in my book (particularly ones which don't have enough CDC packed in... I tie mine so they are like a dense little paint brush). I don't really use FF for other types of flys with those I grease them with aqua gel or similar before I cast them. Also indespensilbe for me to keep dry flies afloat is a fleece. Pressing the fly's in the fleece seems to work well as the first step to drying out a water logged dry.

Other tricks are snappy short false casts, blowing on the fly or simply being judicious with the number of casts which is probably a very good idea to begin with.

Andre or others... what are your other tricks?

Tie a new dry one on..let the other dry out. Always buy or Tie at least 4. Two for you one for your buddy and one stashed ...just in case!

I have a patch of chamois cloth (is that how you spell it?) that I sqqquuuueeeeezzzzeee the fly in with a death grip that would leave finger prints in a steel pipe.

I use frog's fanny on comparaduns, cdc flies, and snow shoe emergers with success. I bought some "feather dri" used for the feathers on arrows to repel water. Looks like the same stuff and i think it is, except FF seems to be pulverized even more than the feather dri stuff.

HOWEVER, the feather dri is 6.99 for a LARGE container. Probably about 50 FF containers worth. I'm going to refill an empty FF container so I can use the brush. We'll see how it works.

Walt, Please post back to let us know. I may go to a sport shop on the way home to see if they have feather dry. I fish a lot of CDC stuff and go through serious numbers of FF bottles.

No problem Andre. If you want to PM me your mailing address, I'll put some in a film canister and mail it to you... although I'll make sure it's THOROUGHLY sealed. Wouldn't want any "white powder" to spill out. (Pretty sick that I have to even consider that.)
