fly fishing mag renewal

Tight Louper

Just finished a River Runs Through it!
I just reeceived another renewl letter from ff magazine.I cut my subscription off about 2 years ago but keep getting the renewl letters. The offerr is 20 dollars for 2 years. What do you get fro 20 dollars? Well you get FF magazine for 2 year but wait thats not all. Other than the magazine look at what else they are including.
  • How to tie and fish new patterns (INCLUDED)
  • latest new products for fly fishers(INCLUDED)
  • the best fly fishing destinations(INCLUDED)
  • conservation issues affecting our fisheries (INCLUDED)
  • expert reviews of the latest books, videos and electronic media (INCLUDED)
  • insights on the present state and future of fly fishing (INCLUDED)
  • casting and presentation techniques (INCLUDED)
I don't really get it.If these things were not include within the magazine what would they include other than advertisements? Why wouldn't they just say something like 'The following topics are covered in this magazine'. Instead of making it look like your gettin something more. to me it looks like white space filler. Does anyone read this magazine and like it?

Fly Fisherman is a good magazine, especially for $20 for 2 years. I would rate it somewhere below American Angler, Fly Tyer, and Eastern Fly Fishing for my own interests, but there is enough in ff for me to keep my subscription.

10 bucks a year why not? If you learn ONE new thing I'd say it's was worth it. But if I could only have one subscription it wouldn't be to FF

Its still a good magazine although not quite as good as it used to be.

12 issues for 20 bucks = $1.66 per issue. I let my subscriptions lapse for a time. But I renewed just to look at some good photogarphy and stave off cabin fever. Buying one issue at newstand prices equals about 3 magazines. Cmon, un-clinch that tight fist.

i'm gonna let my current subscription lapse regardless of 12 for $20 and buy only the issue/s that interest me. most issues are simply repetitive anyway and are no longer that interesting.

Fishing mags do get repetitive after a while (sulphurs hatch in June, the Delaware system as good fishing, etc). If you learn a lot each issue go for it. If it seems like the same old, same old don't. Since you let it lapse once I'm guessing the stuff seems repetitive.

I like Fly Tyer, but after a while I am learning less and less. However, they act like a pattern dictionary.

I like British mags since they have a different slant on things and have bought a German mag a few times too.

I once bought a Chinese magazine, but after an hour I was hungry for more knowledge:lol:
