Haha I'll add it to my list of flies to try this winter...currently fooling around with articulated nymphs

Bought some better turkey and used the right part of it this time, waaay easier.

thicker hair I think made a nicer head too.

i went to tightlines yesterday and showed Andrew some pictures of Spey patterns I wanted to try with a materials list. He sat on the floor and opened every pack of marabou in the colors I needed to find the best feathers. He opened EVERY PACK. All of them. Then he did the same thing with winging material I need!

what a shop, those guys are awesome.:thumb:

Nice to have a shop like that around.

Don't know if it is what you are using but the best spinning hair is belly, not body. I use both, most times I can get away with deer body hair, but when I want a solid pack for like a top water popper, I use belly. I think that the body hair allows the streamer to sink a little faster and still offers that water pushing profile.
Next time you're in Tightlines, ask for deer balls hair and tell them somebody told you it was the best for spinning. They will know it was me. I bought some black spinning hair there and they had non in packages so James went in the back to go through the bins. He came back with a nice patch of spinning hair and not until I got home did I realize that it was belly hair from the deer testicles. The next time I was there I told them about it and we all had a good laugh. It does spin great though.
