Fire in Hancock

A tragedy for those poor business owners, but DC is now gonna have to find another place to get his "do" did before he floats each weekend...

Sorry, bud...

I believe they call this jewish lightning. Its not a coincidence that fires always happen up there during the winter when money is tight.

Ole Homestead another victim of a conspicuous bolt.

I don't want to speculate on what kind of lightening it was, but I will say the following:

a) they serve totally respectable pizza (coming from a Brooklyn pizza snob) and red tablecloth italian staples there. The food will be missed.
b) the wait staff have always been nice to me and my family, and they'll lose a bunch of income out of this.
c) the most important thing is that nobody got hurt. Apparently it was a hell of a blaze - 10 hours and a quarter million gallons of water to put it out. I'm friends with a few of the volunteer firemen up there and that's the first thing I always think about.

Sorry to see the place burn. Hopefully they'll be back up and running soon. Thanks for the heads-up FF

If u could start a separate thread on the political correctness of the term "jewish lightning" in today's society I think a majority of contributors here would appreciate that.

But the Blue Stone went down in the summertime, didn't it? Hmmm 3 places in no time. Lydia's business will pick up now.

I liked the bluestone so I kept them out of it. But if I had to guess....jewish lightning. And it was a summer during a bad water year- just as bad as a tough winter to that area. There are WAY too man fires up there for it to be coincidental.

You know what is very good is the koose koose grill in deposit. As good as the blue stone was and a little cheaper. When fishing down river though that 10 miles to and from hancock towards deposit feels like its 100 miles. Not worth it if you aren't in the area.

I like the pizza place in deposit on the right when you come off the exit. Can't recall the name. I usually get a chicken park sub and a take home salad from his salad bar. He gives you a huge container to put it in. I usually eat two meals out of it. I do suspect the guy bats for the other team though but that doesn't bother me. Just keeping in line with the political correctness of this thread.

Well there is always the Circle E. Great service if your local. If not, then your screwed. Then there is always the Hancock Taven next to the supermarket. We stopped in there one night when they were setting up to have a live band. Quite a crowd came out of every shadow and crack that town had. It reminded me of an Edgar Winter Album i had, the title of which was "They Only Come Out at Night". I never saw so many tattoos and studs, looked like the bar scene from Star Wars.

good to know that the locals are still giving the yuppies trouble.

The Diner on old 17 in Livingstone Manor is a slice of Americana......foods not bad, good for a diner, and the service is respectable...nice people
I ain't talkin' about the Hancock diner..:puking-smiley:

That is the Robin Hood Diner. The fact that you do not know the name of it shows that you really are not a fly fisherman but a plant from GST and a closet spin fisherman
