I am haunted by waters
What do you consider the bare minimum to take on the stream with you for a full day on the river.
sometimes i feel like i have too much stuff.
can you get away with less gear?
i'd like to just have
Rod/reel
2 fly boxes
net
foreceps
snips
backup leaders/tippet
bb shot.
Would that be enough?

Back-up rod and reel. Wading staff. Extra boot laces. Portable tying vise and materials in case I get a mile from the car and run into a hatch I didn't already have tied up in my extra back-up fly boxeS. Lunch. Two water bottles. GoPro camera, tripod and selfie stick.
There are a few other items I would like to take with me but I like to travel light too.

McDonald's gift cards and socks with sandals.....😉

Way too much stuff:

When I was a kid, I didn't have any money to buy more than the bare essentials, and my transportation was by foot or bicycle:
  • Rod
    Reel
    Line
    Leader
one fly box w/ cheap flys
    optional - Net

When my brother attended Air Force survival training, he stuck a couple of flies and a coil of mono-filament in his wallet, and brought along a pocket knife. He cut a make-shift rod from a sapling. His group had plenty of trout to eat.

I would add a small bottle and sun block and insect repent.
