Deerfield update ! Had a great time at Spey Day 2013 ! Set down and tyed up a few spey flies and set some bronze mallard wings for a few that were interested in seeing it done.Had a great time tying by Vern-O and seeing his mad creations! Did a bunch of casting and helped out some curious onlookers who were looking to get in to spey casting. Also threw my hat into the annual one fly comp to round out the weekend. I didn't place as I was fishing a dry, but I think I fared well doing so considering there were not many rising fish . However I did get into a number of nice fish using several different techniques , of which were swinging a grey ghost , both tight line and indicator nymphing and dry dropper . All in all a great weekend on the water with friends old and new alike catching beautiful Deerfield River bows ! Looking forward to next year as the event continues to grow! Thank you for the invite Walt Geryk !! If you have never fished this beautiful water you owe it to yourself to make the trip you will not be disappointed there is 35 + miles of stream to explore.

TT I was fishing it in Zoar Mass. I think a couple of hours or more south of you . I would love to get up and fish it in Vermont sometime it's a beautiful river I can only imagine what it looks like up there.

It is a beautiful river. I fished it for my first and only time (so far) last summer. The heat of last year didn't help show us that river's best, but I landed 2 nice bows and saw some very fishy water the one evening we had to fish during a TU regional meeting nearby. Simms could tell you better where I fished as he knew the area well, but near the VT border south in Mass.

Rusty and BHC, the Upper Deerfield in VT is a small stream, especially above the Harriman Reservoir, I have had great days on it and have been skunked, it is shallow, tight, quite inacessible and challenging, if you are interested i'd love to fish it with you or a couple of guys. The only promise I make is the beer will be good and i have a cool place to stay. And, because of the water source the water the temps are great all summer.

DLUVER and I will gladly take up your invitation. I will provide the scotch. What dates did you have in mind? Dluvers unemployed so his calendar is open. I am a busy man but I will make time for this event.

I am alway willing to pass on some of my vast knowledge and skills to those less fortunate. By nature I am a giver,, thats how I roll. Unlike, BHC who snuck up there with out the customary post to let NEFF know where and when to meet up.

Beetle calls me 4-5 times a day and txt me at least a dozen asking me when you're going to take him to the Lehigh. He even said he will let you buy dinner and let you pay for the room.

He STILL doesn't have a job?

Tobias,

Chuck Furimsky the director of the international fly tying symposium made that shirt. He used to make them for all the featured tyers that were invited to the symposium.

Vern Burm or Vern-o is an extremely humble commercial fly tier who is always willing to share information regarding tying patterns materials and techniques. He ties a lot of flies for Malinda fly shop, Beaverkill Angler Fly shop and a few others.

Ok. That's understandable. It would have been a little different if he had it made for himself.

Where have you been hiding?

Maybe he is a celebrity fly tier but not for nothing, when was the last time you saw Tom Cruise with his celebrity shirt on, let alone... it looks like he's camping ! That shirt screams, "Respect me".

I second this motion. I need a celebrity poster shirt to wear while I'm fishing here in Alaska.

People on the water just don't respect you unless you are wearing a celebrity poster shirt.

Two weeks ago I was stopped on the SBR once and Musky once while fishing the two on the same day. Both guys asked if I was Rusty Spinner on NEFF. They didn't care that I worked for TU or that I guide locally, they just wanted to meet a celebrity poster from the internet.:smokelots:

Haha. I believe it. Before I got banned from the cry baby crazy forum people did the same thing on the SR. Buddies started calling me the Salmon River Mayor.

Now I have tons of water to fish and don't have to see other people around for miles, well most of the time.

See now, the other side of that coin:

Me fishing on the West Branch.

The LAST thing I need is to be recognized as Future Fanatic from NEFF.

I have experienced the same phenomenon, the numbers of NEFF groupies are rising.
