Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Cuthroat leaders...

I have not used that companys products, but I've used furled leaders and really like them. Also, they last soooo much longer than regular leaders.

They do seem to spook fish in low water conditions and tailwater fishing, but are a perfect solution for fishing big bugs (ie. MB, drakes, stones, etc.).

I'm somewhat skeptical on their "Nymphing leader" they offer, as it doesn't appear to be that translucent and may spook fish while dead drifting nymphs. Although, it may prove to be an effective leader to fish larger/heavier streamers, rather than using it to nymph.

I have used them. I went back to standard tapered leaders as i found no advantage with them. You also have to keep them greased or they will sink quicker than standard leaders. But they do lay out straighter

I use them as well; economical and very supple. Also helps as a decent visual indicator/reference fishing smaller flies or subsurface.

I've tried a few different braided leaders for dry fly fishing, and although they worked just fine, I never sensed a clear advantage over my standard hand-tied leaders.

I've often thought that if they gave you a casting advantage, then guides would be rigging up clients with braided leaders.

At some point, give em' a try, because you may feel differently. That's what it's all about.

That is very true. Actually, I stopped using them after a night of fishing when I forgot to bring floatant. I remember that damn leader sinking like fucking lead.

So yea, there are always pros and cons. You just have to see what tips the scale for you..

"there are always pros and cons"

This is true, but there in my mind are more cons. You have to remember, that they will pick up dirt and pollen quickly, and once they do, they will sink like a stone. Also, they spray when you throw them, so you get mist droplets hitting the water when they lay down. It will spook wary fish.
Count me among those who tried them and didnt go back.

Tried 'em again earlier this year. Don't care for 'em and have gone back to hand-tied with Maxima. I don't like the loop to loop and it seems that the tippet ring abrades the tippet after a bit since I had a break off at the ring. They do spray water despite the claims. I believe hand-tied leaders turn over better than any alternative and will stick with them.
