BC Bound

Any of you guys fished BC in the spring? I will be stopping there for two weeks on my way to Alaska. I have an idea of the water I will fish, just curious if any of you have more insight on what area I should concentrate on.

Be at the vise every day until I head out. Hopefully I can twist up something that will trick them. I am also going to stop in Idaho and fish the clear water or snake for a day. It's a rough life, but someone had to do it.

Having never been to BC I can't help ya but fishing the Clearwater in April can be tricky. Average flows double in April on the main stem. That river can rip. Look in to that South Fork. The Snake, near Lewiston/Clarkston can be tough all year long. Not a very friendly stretch of river to wade and once it hits the Canyon, forget about it unless you're on a jet boat.

If you're travelling on 90, I'd suggest the Salmon River. You can drop down on 93 through the bitterroot valley - chief joseph pass has been OK the times I traveled it in April. You might not find it on a map but the area around a town called elk bend around where the pahsimeroi puts in to the stream has been great steelhead fishing when I've fished it in April. Wading and access are decent throughout this area. From my experience in this area, it's a good stretch for the DIY'er. the only real town south of missoula is salmon but watch out the grocery store is run by mormons and is not open every day of the week so make sure to get supplies in missoula. there are a bunch of hot springs not too far off 93 in this area which would make for a great camp in april.

Leaving out April 1st. Should be in Vancouver by the 5th. A few days there fishing with James Reid and then up to Terrace until about the 22nd. Then off to the last frontier! I can't wait.

Broke down and paid way too much for some partridge blind eyes. Oh well it's just money.

This is tied on a 2/0. Didn't come out as clean as I wanted, but she should fish. I have to work on my head on my blind eyes. Instead of cutting the material straight off near the eye I am going to try doing it at an angle.

Ct I wish you the best of luck up in bc awesome flies. I lived up there for a year and saw the gorgeous blue rivers and guys fishing but I new nothing about fishing then make sure you get some pootine
