So I bought one of those little lights that the dentists use....I have been watching everyone use them, especially Beetle.....He was my inspiration for this fly......It was my first with my new toy...this my first attempt at fly gluing:)....it was fun, and this thing really is pretty cool and a lot of fun.....
Glue Quill.jpg

I call it a Glue Quill parachute emerger.....as the glue is coating the quill, it will add a lot of durability to the fly....

Very, very nice fly.

Looks really nice, what brand did you get?

I bought the tiny loon pen size light...and some clear goo cure with the tiny applicator tips....The glue was expensive, but the light was cheap...I don't think it will become a regular thing that I use, as I am a snooty traditionalist when it comes to flies...:)

Very nice, should have saved your money though. Two coats of sally hansens will get the same effect and it won't peel like those Uv products tend to do once wet. If your going to tie saltwater flies then it can be useful. Tuffle eye is what most of the good saltwater tyers use.

I was using nail polish on my wet fly heads...I am way too impatient and kept touching them before they were dry, or adding another coat too soon and F'ing the head up...this satiates my desire for instant gratification!!! The glue and applicator tips were $20.00 no big investment...Thanks!!:)

P.S. post some more awesome flies..:thumb:

Saltwater fly fishing is far in the future for me...

Why must you touch the flies before they're dry? Are you in love with your work that much, you egomaniac?

You can also coat your thread base/hook, with some crazy glue that comes with the brush applicator, and then wrap the herl. That works pretty good too, just don't touch it before it drys.

Just get UV Gel nail polish. It does the same thing, and is much cheaper than the "glue"
