Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Time: 10:30ish to 2:30ish I took a good hour at one point letting a dad and his kids fish an area i was working. KIDS GO FIRST!! I spoke to another gentleman and his kids in the off time. Also, I spent some time spin fishing another body of water a few miles away around 3pm. See that report here.

Extended Report

As this was my first time flyfishing in nearly a year, I spent at least 2.5 hours 5/21/11 night trying to figure out which knots were best for a long line nymphing (French/Spanish) setup. I must have learned something since I didn't have one break-off! Now hopefully I can remember what I did exactly. See separate thread for diagram with knot suggestions.

I headed down to the area where I fished last week with spinning gear only to see that the water was much higher, and ripping fast (even in the shallow sections). Wading was much too risky since rocks disguised a few drop offs. So I set my mind to finding one stretch of stream stream I was able to read and cast to from shore.

I fished a seam that stretched about 30 - 50 feet x 2 feet wide. I pulled all the fish from a 15 - 20 foot section of that stretch of water. I used the additional space to allow time for my flies to sink. I tried a olive wooly bugger by its self but I couldn't get enough distance, and it was moving a little too fast. So I thought to add a split shot but I said I rather use a lighter dropper fly (Walt's Worm).

I immediately started to get on some fish. I caught a white perch, then a few red breast sunfish. Most fish were caught on the walt's worm, but a couple sunnies on the olive wooly bugger, and a couple on a black wooly bugger that I tied on as anchor as well. While continuing to work on my cast and drift I got into many more redbreast sunfish. Eventually with a great drift I picked up my 1st brown, and a few minutes later my second. These two fish marked my 2nd and 3rd trout on a fly :D (Thanks again Walshmiko for taking the time to teach me this method "on the fly" last year). I LDR a good 12+ Fish I think at least 1 or 2 were trout. All fish were C&R'd

Stayed tuned!!! Next up, trout on a dry fly. ;)

Brown Trout: It's been so long since I caught a trout, I forgot just how slippery they can be. I have to work on the fish pics
