A line of thunderstorms containing heavy rain and occasional to frequent lightning will slowly move across the tri-state area this evening. Motorists should be advised that Road flooding will be possible. Thunderstorms will be capable of gusty winds and torrential downpours. Rainfall rates will approach 1 to 2 inches per hour in the heaviest of the rain.

...............

What is interesting is that New York City and New Jersey is getting heavy downpours right now and up in the Catskills we are getting nothing.

See map from wunderground.

It will be interesting now that the Delaware River south of the Gap (I-80) is getting plenty of freshwater to push the salt line back whether we will get any releases from Cannonsville into the WB and MS up here.

Contrary to what Serio said in his previos post - what has now been abridged - I think not.

Air temps are supposed be from 50 to 70 degrees and my guess is that you'll see HE at 290 cfs for the next week with water temps near Callicoon at or above 75 degrees.

Maybe NYC will prove me wrong.

Have a nice weekend and tight lines to all,

TR, I think that whatever heavy rain they get to our South will run off very quickly, so it probably won't impact the flow at Montague for very long, maybe a couple days, maybe. But it will be interesting to see what will get released, they have not done anything yet and may not due to the rain. I got about a 10 minute shower here, about one tenth of an inch.

South of I-80 Bruce is where they're getting downpours.

You're in Ulster right?

That's way north.

Nothing in Sullivan as well.

Let's see how much they release out of the reservoirs this week.

That was quite a quote from McFadden in the New York Times today.

Telling it like it is.

Best...

Those radar maps were pretty misleading tonight. I live in South Jersey where most of the red colored areas were supposed to hit and we didn't see more than a few sprinkles.

Tony,

We got a little over a half inch overnight, and it was a cool(60 degree) rain. This is a very good thing, especially when it happens in the dark when itis cooler. Even the Beaverkill was over 73 for a high at Cook's Falls yesterday akand at 5:30 am was down to 63.5 degrees (which is great). I'm not sure, but it also looks like the release out of Cannonsville was increased early this morning so that combined with Mother Nature stepping in should provide some relief for a few days anyway. We'll see how long it lasts.

Tony,

According to the recording, the release from Cannonsville was cranked up to 600 CFS this morning, but will be knocked down back to 186 CFS by 2pm today. With last night rain and the cooler temps, the rivers should get some good relief, at least for the short term.
