Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

I appreciate all the posters, pics and reports.

Without them, and what I see on NJTROUT, I would be going out of my mind.

I had ruptured my left biceps tendon at the elbow while fishing a NJ WTS in mid-April,
had surgery, was in a cast for 2 weeks, and the support brace just came off last week.

I still can't go fishing - my orthopedist ordered "no fishing yet" -
since 'resultant stress tear-out' of the repair is still a strong possibility.

The real bitch is that I spent from mid-March to Mid-May on the
consulting "bench", and I only got out a few times in April
( went after the weather warmed up a little ).

Keep your reports and photos coming.

Sorry to hear that you missed the best fishing... so here ya go.

I fished the South Branch yesterday and today, got on the water around 5:00 am, fished til 7:30-8:00 am both days, saw only one other angler that gave up quickly. Caught a 16" rainbow on a prince nymph yesterday, and several brookies up to 8" on downwing caddis. Best part, I fished with a freshly built Scott 7" 3 wt. First outing, first fish 16". Fun!

Today I dredged up a 15" bow on a bugger/prince tandem, and caught a few brookies on an elk wing caddis dry. Lots of caddis and olives in the air this morning. Got warm quickly, so I quit early, though I wanted to fish longer.

Sorry sib, no pix.

I dropped my bike last year, and severely pulled my bicep picking it up. Couldn't ride for three months, because I couldn't extend my arm. I know what you're going through.

I'll heading out to Atlantic City/Brigantine Bay area on wednesday to try some backwater fishing! Hope to catch my first striper! Since I don't have a saltwater FFing outfit, I hope the charter captain will let me try his out. :)

Pictures will be taken!

I would think these reports would be driving you nuts... Reading about everyone elses great days on the river without being able to do the same! ACK!!!!! Well, stay tuned for my report. I have to cut the grass and do some crap around the house first though.

Caught a few brookies on Saturday including a 19 inch holdover on a black nose dace streamer. Watched some trout smacking gypsy moth caterpillars. The consensus seems to be that trout don't eat those caterpillars but I've them taken on the Beaverkill and locally. Anyone have a gypsy moth caterpillar fly?

I've always assumed that the conventional wisdom was correct, so I've never tried it....BUT:

How about a dry Wooly Worm without the tag, or an all black Wooly Bear. You could use a long shank hook, or extend the length of a standard hook with a piece of the core of a plastic "Q-Tip".
