The Yellow Creek Coalition is having a winter fundraiser. We're raffling off a fishing trip with Charlie Meck. We're a 501-c-3 non-profit group and have recently finished a stream access project (the bridge cost us $28,000). For more details please go to:

Thank You,
Barry
PS; raffle tickets make great stocking stuffers!

Ok, so I read your post and understand that you are trying to raise money for a good cauyse. If you want, I will commit a day of my time for your charity.

Thus, feel free to raffle off "A Day with Golden Beetle.". I am sure that will raise a lot of money, as I will take the winning bidder on a trip to a secluded brook trout stream in upstate New York. Perhaps 2 hours of fishing, and 3 hours of heavy drinking.

Who is Charlie Meck?

501 is that a fishing boat of some kind?

Why would you use a fishing boat on the Delaware River?

Do they allow motorboats on the Delaware River? What is the rated horse power of the motor?

Do you have a photo of the bridge? Or is it modeled after the Ketchikan Bridge?

Very nice Charlie is a great guy you should do very well with this idea. And kudos to the winner of this in advance. They are going to have a fantastic time with this personable fly fisherman. Charlie Meck is a great guy and a very knowledgeable fly tier and fisherman.

I have another question.

Say I win the day on the water with Charlie, how much do I tip him?

This is a discussion we have had a good number of times over the years on NEFF.

I always go with a 20% tip.

But if you win it.. it is FREE right?

So to me 20% of free is ... zero.

But if you tip someone zero, doesn't that make you Mr. El Cheapo?

I think in this case I might do something I rarely ever do and take the safe route.

See if I don't participate there is no chance of winning, then I don't have to go, and if I don't go, then I don't have to tip.

I think I'll just keep my money and be safe.

Just hope they don't put up toll booths on the bridge.

If you do win, I suggest not telling Mr. Meck about any of your overlooked or little pressured streams - they just might end up in the next edition of "Mid-Atlantic Trout Streams: Overlooked Angling in Pa, NY and NJ"

;-)

IIRC - I believe the Spring Ridge Club owns property along both Yellow Creek & the Little J.

Is the choice of venue a coincidence or a conspiracy?

Bamboozle,
We're working on Yellow Creek, Bedford Co. to keep alive fee-free fishing access. Our goal is to secure public access for future generations. Building a bridge; creating a parking lot and building a road is just part of the over all plan.

NJAngler,
I understand your sentiments but, I think these computers of ours have done far more to popularize fishing spots and destinations than any single author could. Besides: there's plenty of waters listed in all of these fishing guides that don't get any pressure still. The better streams were never the "secret" we thought they were either. There's simply more folks fishing. We're all experiencing growing pressure. There's really nothing (well, nothing legal) we could do to quiet the braggarts and newbies. This was due to happen. There's more flyrodders and we're looking for the best places to fish on our days off.

I would, but I don't gamble.

Well, only if it was a sure thing.

Who is picking out the winning tickets?

Has there been a background check done on him?

He have a TWIC card?

Is it done in public or behind closed doors?

Is there an accounting firm auditing this "raffle"?
If so who?

What happens to the second place winner?
Charlie have a brother?

On the day of the fishing trip, if it is raining can it be put off to a sunny day?

Everyone knows fish don't bite in the rain

Is Charlie also providing the fish'n pole if I win?

AkSkim,
If you read this: Trout Unlimited, Mountain Laurel Chapter , you'll discover that the winner would be determined by the evening number drawn on 1/30/2010 by the Pennsylvania Lottery. The fishing date is to be mutually agreed to by the raffle winner and Mr. Meck. He'll take you out on a nice sunny day if you'd like!

Bamboozle:
It's a coincidence Donny Beaver and his Spring Ridge Club have easements on both streams listed as fishing destinations for the raffle winner. We hope to preserve the "fly fish only" project on Yellow Creek. Your donations are being used for the access projects (bridge, road and lot). Future donations will be used to protect stream access as well.
For Little Juniata River info, click here: Little Juniata Fly Fishing Spruce Creek Fly Shops Guided Fishing Guides Click onto "Conditions" and below the photo you'll find "Little Juniata River Update". It'll provide anyone that's interested a brief summary of how Donny Beaver and his cohorts tried to block access to a stretch along the river. I understand he's appealing the ruling too...

I knew Scud Doggie Po was up to no good.

I wonder if he just pocketed all the money ???

What a scam.

Say I win this "raffle", Am I aloud to sell my win off to someone much more interested in fishing with Mech and his patriot? Im not down with fishing green weenies for stocked trout. I would expect a good profit from some weenie head.
