Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

I'm sorry asshole, I was hoping for an intelligent reply. As someone fairly new to the sport, I thought someone might be able to comment on water clarity, if the amount of rain was meaningful, and what the gauge actually means. sorry to interrupt you sorry ass day.

now shut the fuck up and lets see if someone with at least a high school education would like to help me out.

usgs.com -------->click on the state of nj---------->the southbranch gauge is 2/3rd up on the western(left) side of the state). You'll want to use the High Bridge gauge. The flow is 72 cfs at this time, which would indicate no significant rainfall was absorbed by the watershed. Learning to figure these things out is a habit you should get into though, since sometimes being the first to recognize good conditions can get you on the the river a day before crowds get there and great fishing

The S/B is running NORMAL to LOW -- It has been LOW all season this rain just raised it a lil bit -- It is VERY FISHABLE and Sulphers are/were everywhere --- I live around the corner from the South Branch so take it from me it is in great shape

Leaky Waders -- If you want the info on the South Branch you can PM ME -- That also goes for the whole site -- I can walk to the South Branch in 5 mins -- the Dam is only 7 minutes away by foot so i see it all the time

peace
Dan

thanks Dan and FLy14, I appreciate your help.

oh and Dan, I'm envious of your location.

Dont be envious -- I fish PA more than I do NJ let alone the Gorge/South Branch -- Musky -- Pequest or the Flatbrook -- The quaity and strength oo the fish in PA are much better camparatively to size

Peace
Dan

the envy comes from having to drive an hour and a half to fish but I hear you on the PA fish. We had a great time catching some nice fish out in stroudsburg two weeks ago.

The Gorge is usually safe to wade when the USGS gauge is below 300, but much more manageable when below 200. Below 100 as it is now you can pretty much cross it anywhere and get optimal angles to any riser you encounter. The river gets off color fairly quickly so if the gauge shows a spike, I would not bother as the water will be off color.

If you are planning to head down, bring sulphers and stay until dark. With the overcast today it may start earlier, but last week the fishing went nuts in the last few minutes of daylight.

Exactly so Agust. I caught a nice brown in a piece of water I had to stand mid stream for just to get a good float. If the water was higher, he'd have been safe. Couldn't stay till evening and activity was really picking up as I left (of course)
