Wader boot recommendation

Good morning gents

my proline felt bottom boots have literally disintegrated and i was hoping you guys could offer me some advice on a replacement pair, most likely felt, that are LIGHT and wont break the bank. hoping to get some recomendations based on experience.

ill probably be buying online unless shannons or ramsey happens to have a good deal.

much appreciated!

Simms Freestones are reasonable. You'll wear the felt out before you wear the boot out. Ramsey also has those great monthly coupons when you sign up, so you'll get a good deal there.

Korkers Redheads are about $100 and have the replaceable soles. My buddy has them and he really likes them. I have the Korkers Chrome and I am pretty happy with them.

does anyone have anything against felt? i find it to provide the best grip and the reviews for the non-felt freestones on the simms site are all saying theyre slippery as shit..i just want to make sure im not missing out on any new rubber/cleat technology.

I haven't had a problem with my simms rubber/ cleat soles.
If you go that route just be sure to get the star cleats.
But nothing gets better traction than felt with spikes.

The rubber freestones suck. So do some of the higher-end boots with rubber. I use them up in VT where felt is now illegal. I've really gotten to know my wading staff very well. I could go with cleats, but I would make way too much of a racket fishing some of the smaller streams I hit there every now and then.

I have Simms Guide Boots -- Not The G4"s The Other ones in felt -- Great Boot A Lil Pricey and I added Spikes Myself

Peace
Dan

i am going to spring for freestones. i tried on a pair and they are so comfortable i couldnt resist. unfortunately need to wait till pay day but i gorilla glued the felt back onto my prolines in the mean time...gorilla glue is crazy stuff!!! wow
