Hip wader boot help-felt stinks!

grug

Just finished a River Runs Through it!
I just bought a pair of Pro-Line hip waders and want any ideas for adding felt/studs to the feet. I bought the felt soles with glue from Complete Angler but after 24 hours they just peeled right off. There is not enough surface contact to make a good seal due to the boot cleats.

I have tried those corkers that you lace on but they came off yesterday while wading in some muck, lost for prosperity in the mud of the Musky river! I didn't even feel them come off for God's Sake!! (didn't like them anyway).

Any ideas appreciated and Tight Lines!!

I glued on felt soles to a pair of boot foot chest waders once - you need to remove the cleats first or you will never get a good bond.

It is a pain and messy - you can cut off with a serrated knife / saw, need lots of elbow grease and keep the blade wet.

Or you can grind / sand off with coarse grit, this may be less labor but it makes one heck of a mess, do it outside!

Good news is it works - mine were done well over 10 years ago and they are still in fine shape.
