Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Fishizzle, I use worms but I'm looking to upgrade!
Greetings All,

I plan to fish the Lake Willoughby area 9/22--9/26
Has anyone fished the Clyde River for salmon or any of the other local rivers for trout. what can I expect for conditions? It's been difficult getting info and I've tried emailing the local TU
people last week.Any recommendations other than possibly finding an Orvis guide.

I fished the clyde before they blew the dam there a few years ago and got a 25 1/2 inch and 24 inch salmon on the same night. nice little river flows through Newport. The locals actually have a rotation system in town where the deeper slower water is fished by bait fishers and the water a few bridges down is fished by flyfishers using a rotation system. they don't look down their nose at each other they just split up the ater along fishing needs as related water. There was U haul rental place where yopu parked and fished behind. there is a sport shop in downtown Newport that can direct you there. BlackGhosts, red and white streamers in a size 4-8 as well as nymphs small size 18 caddis larva types. 5 weight rod is sufficient and a floating line is all you need. Good luck.
