Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

The clacka is backa

MACFLY

Too many streams too little time
Got the clackacraft back yesterday. Bottom gel coated, new rowers seat with drain plug, new locks, molding repaired, passenger seats cleaned, new trailer lights, spare tire, oxidation removed, and new tie down straps. Also got a wheeled stand for the trailer and tire mount for the spare. Boat looks greatImageUploadedByTapatalk1355523273.166964.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355523286.884192.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355523301.212992.jpg

Looks good. Only problem is the new rowers seat. It will not give my back the lower support it needs. Therefore, I will just have to use the front or back seat. Also, I am sending you a dry cleaning bill as my Simms pants got dirty from you unwashed seat. You can pay me at the show

I don't let children row a mans boat. As for your dirty waders you know that's not mud on them. Next time wear your diapers.

Mac,
Looks great!
Were did you get the work done, and were they reasonable cost wise.
Mads
I got it done in pa in rt 309. Place called highway marine. Reasonable is relative to me:). Most of the cost is labor. He did do a minor repair on one spot before gel coating it. Would like to have it reprinted but may wait in case I decide to sell the boat.

Highway Marine is a hop skip and a jump away. I didn't know they could re do your driftboat Mac.

They have a fiberglass restoration specialist. He did a great job. Stripped it down, repaired one area and the gel coat is great.

Could you share the company info/contact(s) of the folks who did the work? Thanks.

Is the bottom just straight gelcoat or do you have fiberglass resin or coat it on the bottom? I reapply resin on my once a year to fix gouges and dings on the bottom and along the chine.

I had the existing gel coat sanded down. One small fiberglass repair made (could have filled it but decided on a full repair) then the entire bottom gel coated.

Its no suprise you had to have the bottom coated after floating or should I say dragging from balls eddy to shehawken in 200 cfs!

putting a coat of resin on once a year just makes that boat heavier over time. Poly resins do pretty well in the sun so you do not have to worry until your boat is fading. Then its time to maybe think about painting again. The big dings on the bottom should be repairs but with at least a 50% glass ratio. The only type of bottom repair I recommend is what mac did. Gel coating is very simple. A gun is 59 bucks to apply gel coat. the biggest thing is getting that old coat out or smoothed enough where you are not adding material to material. O and I am pretty sure this is obvious but do not use epoxy. Only polyester or vinyl ester gel coats/resins should be applied.
