SIMMS G3 waders with MUCKBOOT

I just picked up a pair of SIMMS G3 waders with the Muckboot to use in the winter while on my boat, and WOW! These things are a heck of a lot warmer than my stocking foot G3's. I know, it's a no brainer that they would be warmer, but I was surprised at how warm they are. I stood in the water for a good while today since I fished the morning and went out in the boat later on. It was very comfortable standing in the water, even in the middle of winter. If you are looking for a good pair of breathable's for the winter, I highly recommend the G3's with the Muckboots. You're probably asking yourself, "why would I want breathables in the winter?". Well, do you want to walk through two feet of snow in neoprenes to go fishing? Some of you probably aren't hard enough to do that to begin with, but for the rest of us, we need good gear to keep us on the water.

I don't know if a question of being hard enough....probally young enough is more like, done that over 20 yrs ago. And yes muck boots are warm, it sounds like a good combination.

My buddy I was fishing with last weekend has the same set-up with teh custom mucks and is as pleased as you are. My toes were numb in my Orvis waders and his were toasty as could be. 33 degree water for 10 hours can get chilly on the digits!! Breathable is the way to go with proper wicking layers. Cardinal rule - no cotton!!

These waders may be my big purchase for next season. I end up spending more time on the river in the winter than in the nice weather, they are worth the investment it seems. I wish Simms had a credit card like Orvis(points = free gear), or I wish Orvis made non-neoprene waders with warm boots!

Well I couldn't resist and bought a different pair of waders I could not pass up.....we'll see if they keep my feet warm enough in late March so I don't have to shell out $500 on the simms mucks.

I was at the Orvis store in Manchester VT yesterday and found a new pair of Tailwater XT bootfoot in Large Long, size 13 boots. They were used for the catalog shoot so they marked them down to $300 and then took 50% off from there. So I got a $379 pair of waders for $150, with their warranty, as long as I keep my receipt (which I do for all fishing gear). Better yet, I had an $85 gift card and $25 in Orvis bucks, So I paid $40 out of pocket.

Just acquired a pair of the muckboot waders. I was wondering if anybody uses these in the summer, ill be in montana so the water is always pretty chilly, so the warmth is a good thing, just curious on how they work on slippery surfaces. ill be testing them out soon, but i would like some input on their performance from an experienced user of the brand. thanks

They aren't great on slippery surfaces. Bring korkers if you have them. I used my stocking foot G3's with SIMMS hardbites in the Smokies. You would have thought I was a rock climber traversing some of those creeks. They are great for the stream. On steep rocks they are like ice skates! But then again I don't think normal people would have walked where I was walking.

right right, haha. I did try them out, and yes, they're not too great on the slippy stuff, I'll probably end up buying some type of spiked bottom for them.

I would definitely recommend the muckboot.
