Pontoon Boat Inflation

On the topic of pontoon boats, I have another question. I have an Outcast Cougar, and up to now I have used the hand action pump that I bought with the boat. While it is efficient, my back has continued to give me trouble, so I thought a powered pump might be a good Christmas present. On the web, however, the sites that sell Outcast boats have a powered inflator that sell for $120.00!! Has anyone found a powered pump (like one of the Coleman models, that sell for $20-$30) that has coupler adapters that will fit the inflation valves on the Outcast?? Many thanks, and Merry Christmas to all!

Don't know if you ever got a reply...I have an Outcast and I inflate it using one of the compressors I think mentioned; $40 Sears electric. With an invereter I plug into the accessory outlet in the car if I inflate at the river.

I use an adapter like the one in the link here to interface the compressor valve to the pontoon valve. Works just fine and it is inexpensive and sure beats a hand pump.

Thanks!

Thanks for the great lead. I'm going to check it out. Glad to hear someone else has decided to take the easy way out. BTW..do you ever adjust the air pressure in your pontoon boat during the day..if, for example, you start out early in the morning and the sun gets hot during the day..it suggests that you take some air out. I plan to carry my pump with me on the boat for adjustments.

Oasisman,
I have used a pontoon almost everytime I have fished over the past 5 years. I have never carried the pump on my boat. I usuall check the pressure in the AM before heading out and if anything, add a little. Keep in mind, if you let air out during the day because the sun is hot, you will probably need to add air as the sun goes down. If you are floating colder waters on the West Branch into the mainstem. you should not have a problem with air pressure in your pontoons. The way I see it is, pump the boat almost full in the AM, you should be fine throughout the day.

I pump my boat up once early season and keep it inflated all season long. I use a standard compresser for the initial inflation with no adapter, (keep the check valve in and then release it when you are done with the compressor) then jkust use the foot pump with the adapter to top it off.
