Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

New vehicle shopping. Input?

I had the Ram 2500 with the cummins, with the new "blue Tech" emmisions i dropped down to 17 mpg and was paying .50 more a gallon.

That new emission add ons are bull shit. All it does is take necessary additives out of the fuel that you have to add after market to keep your motor running right and the emission standards, like you stated, reduce your fuel economy. That's why I'll never buy a diesel newer then 2007.

Also, I will never own a regular gas vehicle ever again. Diesels last for at least 300k+ if you take care of them. Plus in my truck I can run over all those hippy hybrids and I really enjoy cranking up the tuner to full power and blowing black smoke into people's windows in the summer time.

If you want to turn the key and drive and not have to worry.....get the 4-Runner. Toyota's just go and go. I've owned a bunch of vehicles over the years and Toyota's are the only brand that has never let me down, Honda takes 2nd place.

4Runners cycle new models every 6-7 years. The current came out in 2009, so you don't expect to have a new one become the "old model" at the earliest 2015.

Toyota is nice, but why follow the herd? It's bad enough that we all look the same on the stream, now the parking lot will look like the corporate loaner fleet. Everyone told me to get a rice burner of some sort, but I said fuck it and got the Euro TDI. I get 28mpg if I keep it under 80, it can negotiate some seriously hairy terrain with the low range transfer case, and I've hit 130 (governed to that) on my way home from 4 wheelin. And have not had one single issue with it.

HAHAHAAHAHAHA!

Chris,

THe other day when I was home I was hauling 14k of bulk oil for my dads company with his truck...So I was rolling through lights, obviously roal'n coal like a mother fucker :) So, this lady in a camry comes up next to me and goes, "EXCUSE ME, CAN YOU STOP POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT?!"

Silly cunt, the light turned green as she said it and didn't have time to roll up her window....Was fucking priceless.

I have a Honda ridgeline, it's ugly as sin, but practical as all get out. Super reliable too.

:thumb: A 4WD pickup w/ locking rear diff, limited slip front diff, heated leather seats and navigation...Robopickup!
I only wish mine got a bit better fuel mileage...that could become more of an issue in Jan2012...

Smarter than a hemi and it has a set:

Unlike a hemi, this car is bad-ass:

Can you handle something like this? It has the perfect little add-on packages just for you:

It even has storage for your make-up kit.

Is there a HD penis extension sticker on the truck w/ the replacement ballsack? :)

The Ridgeline is actually considered an SUV since the bed is not seperate from the cab.

"Pilot w/ a patio".

I dont know what you guys do to your vehicles... I put alot of miles on my vehicles..My commute to work alone is 46 miles each way...I have always gotten over 200K from my vehicles...And have had very few major repairs over the years... The line up

1989 Jeep Wrangler- 1989-1995 285,000 miles (Bought new for $10k sold for $3000)
1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport- 1995-2000 301,000 miles (bought for $18,500 sold for $4500)
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee- 2000-2004 235,000 miles (bought for $25,000 traded in for $7,500)
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004-2011 250,000 miles (gifted to relative- it is still going strong)
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 -2002- Present 238,000 miles

I always said that i would never buy foreign but last June I bought a Hyundai for the commute, already have 27,000 miles and had to change the tires and brakes...At least it gets 36 mpg... I do get some double looks if I drive the car while guiding, I guess it doesnt fit the image. They prefer a guide with a dirty, rusty old Ram with flies stuck to the visors and shotgun shells rolling around the floors...

Simms, I picture you in a Dodge Ram Longhorn... You can always get a little piece of crap commuter car for work...

The bigger the truck, the smaller the driver's dick....

Gotta sport something big....if you don't have it.....buy it....

"Pilot w/ a patio".

Boy i tell you what, i test drove a customers Pilot today after working on it and I was impressed.

They got a little bit of NUT to them for what they are, cracks vtec like a MOFO..

Still dont think id ever consider purchasing one, but impressive none the less..

CTobias, your TJ is sick!! What kinda longarm kit u got under it??

This is what a real truck looks like.

This is what real trucks do....at 20 MPG going 80mph South on 81 from Syracuse to the offroad park. It gets 24-26 mpg not towing anything depending on how fast I drive.

Or get this and go anywhere

I didn't think they stole Jeeps.

All the cool kids drive Xterra's .

Or so I'm told....

I am approaching my fourth year in mine and I wouldn't trade it. Previously I had larger SUV's (Durango, Explorer) and even though the X is a little shorter, I can still fit 9 footers assembled in the rod loft, has a super capable 4 wheel drive setup, good ground clearance, over engineered roof racks and strong cargo hooks to hang heavy vest, nets and jackets, and the engine will probably last forever too. (knock on wood) Gas mileage isn't horrendous either.

I'm very happy with mine too!

Kind of hard to tow a CAT skidsteer and 3,000lb trailer with a prius.

I wish that was mine! It was my buddy Doug's. I did buy the tires as a wedding gift though. Haha. He had a 4.5" Rubicon Express kit on there. Full air lockers and the works. Thing destroyed Raush Creek. He sold it and bought a lake boat.

Just got this new chevy two weeks ago and love it. With the new fuel management system I get about 21 hwy mph, which is more than my old v6 dodge dakota ever got. Handles the dirt roads by my house great.

lmao screw buyin an american truck, milage an dependability are way below standard, give a freakin company bailout money, you couldn't pay me to buy a general motors or chrysler/dodge product, an 21 mile per gallon... you for real... thats a freakin joke too, Our country was once great, we ended a serious global war in 4 years by creating the Atomic bomb in four years. We put a man on the moon in ten years,....we still cant make a vehicle get tremedous milage, or be as dependable as the Japanese vehicles...its a friggin embarassment. For my hard earned money its Toyota 4 Runners and Tacomas, and Honda is my second choice.
I am as American as they come but when it comes to buyin from companies that have my tax money an deliver a shitty product an expect the public to bail them out ...fug that.

Dang man, relax. Yah, you sound real American too. You also dont know much about trucks. I love my wife's 4runner, but as far as full sized pickups (not tacoma), Americans the way to go. You obviously know nothing about gas mileage either because the Silverado's fuel management is more efficient than the Ram's or Tundra's (im not anti either brand tho). Only better one is Ford's Eco Boost that claims 23 hwy miles. Research and learn something instead of spouting bs." BTW, half my buddies are mechanics and work on these trucks day in and day out and know which companies have more problems. They're all about the same price so I woulda bought the Toyota if I thought it were better.
As far as the bailout, I do agree it was a shame, but boycotting future goods will just result in more American families losing jobs. You sounded more un-American in your rant.

Ford did not take bailout money, and makes a pretty damn good pickup. If they could only figure out that old guys need heated electric seats in the morning I would be driving one. :crap:

My truck is pre bailout. I will never buy a new vehicle ever again, such a waste of money. I will just have my diesel motor rebuilt at 300,000 miles.

*****newsflash****** this just in***** a toyota foreskinner aint a truck********i repeat***** a toyota foreskinner aint a truck*****also***** ford has been making great trucks for the better part of a century and didn't take any bailout money******my last two ford trucks had well over 200k miles with no major problems***** now back to our regularly scheduled programming******

Tobias, thats cool , what is your truck ..a gmc or chevy?dodge ram?

---------- Post added at 05:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:59 PM ----------

Trouser,
I have no problems with Ford aside from the fact that their gas milage isnt all that much better than the others, If i were gonna buy an American Truck fullsize it would definitely be a F 250 Super Duty 4x4 maybe ext cab maybe crew full bed too, but for regular gas fueled trucks american trucks need to go far longer on a gallon of fuel, its a shame that engineers dont make the effort to get very high mileage for the full size trucks..like i said in earlier post we can make a bomb to end a war in 4 yrs, send man to the moon in 10 years why the heck cant they do better with the damn mileage sheesh.

First of all, any of you claiming over 20mpg in your non-diesel full sized trucks (and evn SUVs) are full of shit. Second, expecting over 20mpg in a 5000lb vehicle is pretty unrealistic.
