Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

My trip to Roscoe today

Eagle Claw

Trout Hunter
Coming up Rt. l7 I jumped off at Bridgeville on the Neversink, had lots of film and my camera ready to take what I thought would be shots that would be unbelievable, well, no evidence of a flood except for some pile of stones the road department pushed into the parking area.
The last flood the road leading into the ski resort was torn up, the houses were devistated and the parking area was torn up so bad you could not get a car into it.
Next stop Livingston Manor, some road erosion near Fur,Fin and Feather, drove into the town and saw some dirt on the roadway, looked a little harder and went down some side streets and saw house trailers and some small houses along a trib that were hit bad, however to the casual visitor not aware of the food they may have drove right through without even noticing. I went upstream from Fur Fin and Feather and nailed a 13 inch fish on a 14 Adams parachute. I then drove downstream the length of the Willowwemoc and the first access by the red house
and guard rail up from the Catskill Fly Fishing Center was badly eroded and you could see where the water had been onto the road leaving a lot of debris behind. Trees and bushes had junk stuck in them quite high up. Traveling downstream, the area below the bridge at the CFFC had some serious erosion and the river bed looked different. Next stop Hazel Pool and fish were rising and guys catching them, you could see a lot of fish from the bridge.
Some small sulphers and caddis in the air, not a lot but sparse and tiny. Got to Roscoe and everything along Stewart Ave looked normal. Houses on side streets got smacked and were condemned, the library had water marks half way up. Traveled down stream and the Roscoe Hotel was under some heavy duty construction to get up and running but hit hard. Continued downstream and the camp grounds were all wiped out with trailers parked all over the place on higher ground. Got to Painters Bend and part of the wall was taken out.
Sunoco Pool next and it looked normal except for all the brush laying down and junk stuck in it.
The Riverside Cafe aparently had 30" of water in it and the hotel was a mess but work being done to get up and running.Did some fishing at Sunoco Pool and caught a few but no bugs or fish rising. Now hear is the strange thing, I went into the Sunoco conveinence stoor with my waders on and the girl stopped me at the door and said "you cant come in here if you have studs on your boots" I told her I have been coming here for ten years and the last four with these same boots and you have never said anything. She said the owner does not want anyone in here with them anymore. I told her he would be smart to invest in a cheap rubber runner because that parking area for fisherman next to the store is a cash cow. She said I dont make the rules, I then told three other fisherman on the way to the store and they got back into their cars and drove away.
