What kind of night lights do you guys use? I have a light that emits a powerfull beam. The only problem is that you have to hold it and press a button while doing what you are trying to do. I used to use one of those flex lights, but they weren't very powerfull.

Anyone use a head light? What kind, and where did you purchase it? Is there a link that I can take a look at it?

Headlamps are the way to go. They keep your hands free and can be used for stream side or getting back to the pickup at 10 o'clock at night.

I like the Petzel Dual. WaterPROOF, 2 settings (regular and Halogen) regulare AA bateries, not 6v pack. Friends are now using LED model. Lighter and energy efficient.

In Canada, cheapest place around is Mountain Equipment Coop (www. mec.ca)

I also have the petzl led model for the headlamp. I also have a red led light that I clip onto my vest. The red light is less harmful to the eyes in the dark and it doesn't travel as far as white light.

I use the Petzel LED and love it. Another one of those great buys. Andre

For those that are having trouble tieing on small flies at dusk or dark.. check out the Coleman micro fluorescent lantern (model 5397). I just bought one at Walmarts 12.95 & it works great. Hangs on a lanyard around your neck... it has a yellow lens in the closed position, but, you can fold out the lens at a 90degree so the straight white fluoro shines down while you tie on your fly underneath. My eyes are totally shot, but, this light makes the task of tying a #22 on 7x in total dark a piece of cake. Similar light in the Orvis catalog goes for 30$+. Check it out.

For those who like headlamps, check out wal-mart..they have a lamp made by rayovac that has three different lights in one, a small white dual led....nicely bright , not at all overpowering.....a single red led, my personal favorite since it's e3asy on your night eyes....and a larger regular lamp....I think it was like 12 dollars and runs forever on 4 aaa batts.
